Bari is the top-of-the-line brand for synthetic reeds. Synthetic reeds will usually last several times longer than traditional reeds. They can still be chipped or cracked, but they will not wear out like traditional cane. The reeds are formatted to sound as similar to cane reeds as possible, but there is a slight difference.

Comments about Bari Synthetic Bass Clarinet Reed:
I BROUGHT THIS NOT TO LONG AGO. THE REED IS GREAT ITS VERY CONSISTENT, PLAYS WELL AND LAST LONG. ITS WORTH THE MONEY TO BUY ONE AND AT LEAST HAVE IT ONE HAND IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS WITH YOUR REGULAR REEDS. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING BASS CLARINET FOR 7 YEARS AND THIS REED IS GREAT FOR LARGE GROUPS AND MARCHING BAND. I DON'T RECOMMEND IT FOR SOLO WORK OR TO TAKE THE PLACE REGULAR REEDS. I DEFINITELY DON'T RECOMMEND IT FOR Bb SOPRANO CLARINET. I HAVE ONE FOR TENOR SAX AND Eb CLARINET BECAUSE I PLAY SEVERAL INSTRUMENTS AND I ENJOY HAVING THEM AND PLAYING ON THEM. OVER ALL THIS IS A GREAT REED TO PLAY ON FOR LARGE BANDS/ ORCHESTRAS
