Weber Speakers

A very inexpensive way to greatly improve guitar speaker performance.

The Weber Beam Blocker High Frequency Diffuser is a simple device that is installed between the speaker and the baffle. The dome shaped diffuser prevents point-source high frequencies from beaming directly out of the cabinet to create that ice pick sound. Instead, they are diffused evenly in all directions to blend with the lower frequencies that tend to radiate in a wider pattern. The Beam Blocker allows you to make use of speakers that have a tendency to be beamy, harsh, or generally unusable due to their extreme high frequency response. The idea of using a diffuser is not new. Many performers including SRV were known to have applied a patch of duct tape on the grill cloth directly inline with the center of the speaker to block the beaminess. The Beam Blocker performs that same function while diffusing the high frequencies evenly in all directions.

Comments about Weber Speakers Beam Blocker High Frequency Diffuser:

I've always believed the best designs are the simplest. Simplicity is clean, elegant, practical, and functional. Weber has nailed it with this very effective device that takes the ice-pick out of your ear in the high frequency area that all amps produce at times. It takes 5-10 minutes and a screwdriver to install and you'll be surprised at the difference this amazing device will make in your sound throughout the audible spectrum of tone. Most noticeable is in the high end frequencies but it will smooth out the low end and mid-range too. I've become a complete Weber addict and I have 4 amps with Weber speakers plus an extension cab I just built and they all have Beam Blockers.

Comments about Weber Speakers Beam Blocker High Frequency Diffuser:

This is such a simple device but I have to say on a lot of amps and cabs this is worth two or three times the price. I have installed them on two of my amps, a stock Boogie F-30 and a Deluxe Reverb that has been modified. In both cases it made the amps much more 3 dimensional and balanced tonally. It lets the character of an amp to come through up close and eliminates the harshness directly in front of the amp in tight locations. I dont see a need on a larger rig but some may have a need for that too. Still, a great product....

Comments about Weber Speakers Beam Blocker High Frequency Diffuser:

These things are pretty amazing. They do what they say they will. I have a very short 2x12 speaker cab and these make it easier to hear when you are right in front of it. They tame the shrill high end well (I did not have much to start with).........Now for the bad news, the construction and design of this product is great other than the tiny spot of glue that keeps the dome from rattling against the support band, if the band (the piece that suspends it across the speaker) flexes it breaks the glue and you get a rattle. I wrapped mine with electrical tape and it is fine. Weber could fix this. I would use them again.
