Comments about Yanagisawa Model S-991 Professional Soprano Saxophone:
The Yanagisawa S991 Soprano Saxophone is the finest soprano ever made in my view. Yani leads the pack when it comes to sopranos. Ergonomics, depth of sound which was rich, power, resonance and intonation are second to none. In my search for a new soprano to replace my Yamaha 62, Yani 800 & Yani 901, I held on to a Selmer III and Yamaha 875 each for a week. Both were nice horns, however, the upper register on the Selmer was difficult to get and the Yamaha had a nasally quality. Both had nice intonation. However, the Yanagisawa 991 has a wonderful full presence, easy to hit the high registers, effortless to control and dead on intonation in all registers. I really can't say enough. The sound is absolutely beautiful. Yani leads the pack in the soprano market. Lastly, really awesome sound and control with the Selmer Super Session F Mouthpiece & LaVoz Medium Reeds. Truly a fun horn to play and hard to put down.
