Great Speaker

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Eminence The Wizard 12" Guitar Speaker:

I can't find a flaw with this speaker.

It is a full, punchy tone on any dynamic. It is smooth but starts to get some 'umph' on hard picks... just right. It is a speaker I wish to keep in my amp as long as possible.

Eminence is great to buy from. They have a page of sound bits and they have excellent American-made speakers for a reasonable price.

103 db of "PURE TONE" !!!

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Eminence The Wizard 12" Guitar Speaker:

This is not only my FAVE Red Coat that Eminence has masterminded...
It's also the most "in your FACE" speaker on the planet!
If you are lookin' to maximize the loudness and volume that your amp is capable of ...here it is !!!

With a WHOPPING 103db at a mere 1 watt...
You can imagine what this beast is capable of with 50 or 100!!!

So you are after a "well balanced and articulate" speaker???
This is the one you need...
and it isn't "blue" or "gold" or cost 2 or 3 hundred bucks either...

More efficient also means you won't have to "push" your amp nearly as hard to get the volume you are seeking...which means your amp will play "cleaner" and run "cooler"...
Get it?
Get one !!!

Great Speaker

By

from Darien, Il.

Comments about Eminence The Wizard 12" Guitar Speaker:

I bought this speaker to replace the stock speaker in my Peavey Valveking. I am very pleased with the sound that comes from this thing. The highs and lows are very well balanced. Its supposed to sound like the Eminence Governor and Private Jack combined. So if your looking for a versatile replacement speaker, be sure to check this one out.

Wizard Wakes the Princeton

By

from Carson CA

Comments about Eminence The Wizard 12" Guitar Speaker:

I have a Fender Princeton 112 plus and one day when I was going to jam with some friends, I flipped the switch and the lights were on but no sound came out. No switch-on-thump, and no hiss everything was on 10. There was no circuit when I tested the points on the speaker. Alas! The factory speaker had died after 15 years of heavy use! After looking into all the speaker choices I had, I decided to go with The Wizard. If you go to the Eminence website, you can see that it has the fullest and loudest spectrum of sound on the frequency spl chart or whatever it's called. It's definitely got more bite. I used to set the treble to 7 or 8, now the sweet spot is 4.5. And the bass varies from the size of the room your playing, but even at 1 it's got a nice full sound even at low volume. It's got a good British rock sound whether it's Jimmy Page or Graham Coxon.

Eminence Wizard rocks!

By

from Marlborough, MA

Comments about Eminence The Wizard 12" Guitar Speaker:

Built myself a little cabinet, about 18" square by 10" deep out of 3/4" birch faced plywood, got this speaker installed and it sounds great with a Blackhart 5W tube amp! The cabinet is just wood at this point, about 1/3 of the back is open. Nothing glued in place yet so I can play with locations. Right now the speaker is mounted to the back of the baffle with 6/32 screws installed from the front front of the baffle & washers/nuts on the inside, am going to try mounting to front, rouiting the front to make it sit flush, changing the opening size in the back, just having fun with these new toys! Got some knife edge nserts on order from MSC Industrial Supply to try also.

New cabinet with Wizard speaker review

By

from Marlborough, MA

Comments about Eminence The Wizard 12" Guitar Speaker:

I just put together a self designed guitar speaker cabinet, modeled after some cabinets I saw on the internet and looking at cabs in guitar stores (not much to them), ended up internally about 16.5" x 16.5" by 10.75" deep, ~1/3 of the back panel open per WinISD calculations to have Fs agree with the speaker, rightly or wrongly. Sounds great with a Blackstar HT Series HT-DUAL Tube amplifier and an Eminence Wizard speaker. That 5W tube amp sounds great with some distortion turned on - way better than any solid state amp sounds that tries to mimic tubes. 18 x 18 outer dimensions determined by the size of some 3/4" birch faced plywood I have left from an earlier project. Screwed eight 6/32 x 1.5" screws from the front and mounted the speaker to the back of the 3/4" baffle, secured with a washer & nut. Figured could always change the back opening to play with the sound a little, or route out the speaker opening to move the speaker forward in the baffle, or mount it to the front. Not really sure moving the speaker will have much impact, guess I could set up a mic and freq generator into an oscilloscope and see what could be seen - lot of variables to deal with. Anyway, this little cabinet/5W tube combe sounds great!
