A signature semi-hollowbody Telecaster with soapbar pickups!
When platinum-selling Jimmy Eat World guitarist and frontman Jim Adkins cheerfully challenged Fender by throwing down the gauntlet of designing his perfect electric guitar, a collaboration began that resulted in the Fender JA-90 Telecaster. Fender sat down with Adkins and went over his old Fender TC-90 spec by spec, making some important changes that subsequently produced this unique new model. The Jim Adkins Telecaster guitar has a mahogany neck set into a semi-hollow ash body, Seymour Duncan® Soapbar pickups, independent volume and tone controls, an Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and anchored tailpiece. The high-output Custom Soapbar SP90-3 pickup uses two large ceramic magnets for extra output, compressed dyanamics, and sharper attack. The full frequency response delivers extra punch. The Vintage Soapbar SP90-1 has short, wide bobbins for higher output and more powerful midrange than Strat or Tele single-coils. The tone is sweet and smooth. Sweetness, indeed!

Fender JA 90
Comments about Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I'm an old rock bass player, who play's guitar on my own music. I purchased the JA 90, a while back, because of the P90 pickups (Seymour Duncan SP 90-1 and SP 90-3) and the Telecaster look and feel. That would give me, the old 60's guitar sound I was looking for
When I got the guitar, Crimson Transparent, I love that color. I did my usual setup on it, set the neck and then my string height and then set the inclination and adjusted the pickups. I love the way it sounded and the way it played, nice neck, good action. However, the tuners kept slipping.
I ended up ordering a set Grover 18:1 Tuners as well as a Fender Case and some chrome knobs, for more of a Tele look and feel. This guitar, came in a box. No case, no gigbag.
With the Grover 18:1's on the guitar, it does everything, that I want it to do. I'm planning on recording with it, in the near future.
Spent more then I planned, but I'm happy with what I ended up with.
