This guitar isn't horrible, but I would definitely recommend spending a little bit more and getting the Ibanez gsa60 or gsa20 for around 200$. This guitar has a nice neck and pretty good action, but the pickups really squeak when the volume is turned up a lot. Also, the neck hangs very low and I personally feel I have a lot more control when the neck sits higher. It's an ok guitar for a beginner, but I do think you should check out the gsa60 or 20 first.

It is a really nice guitar. I just bought it 3 months ago. Its a really nice looking guitar. It has simaliar looks to a Gibson Les Paul. If your a beginner i would definately recommend this guitar but if your an expeirenced, active guitar player i would recommend putting in the extra dollars for a better guitar. The only problems that i've noticed so far in this guitar is that you can hear the pick really bad when you do riffs and it sorta squeeks when you turn it up loud but other than that this guitar is a really nice guitar for beginners.

Fantastic Beginner Guitar!!!

By p86dave

I bought one of these years ago when I switched from playing all acoustic to Electric and let me just say that this guitar will hold up to any beating you give it. If you're looking for a metal sound then definitely buy this guitar. The bridge pickup is great considering the price of this one. Now don't expect this thing to have a decent clean, because it doesn't. The neck pickup is kinda muddy, but it sound great for rock/metal when used with the bridge pickup. I would definitely recommend this guitar for anyone looking for a cheap SG style to check out. I keep this guitar out on a stand, exposed all the time and I have had no trouble with the neck or intonation at all. My only beef with this guitar is that the tuners are garbage (who are we kidding though, it's less than 200$). Just plan on having to hop on ebay and grab yourself a new set of tuners if you plan on keeping this one around for awhile. Other than that, I still play this guitar, and it still sounds pretty decent.

This guitar was my first guitar and for starters its great. I dropped some DiMarzio pickups in it and now it sounds awesome. It feels very comfortable and I would defiantly recommend this guitar for starters.

pretty rad

By Ted-3pPgP

This guitar is good for its price, except the action is a little higher then I'm used to. it sounds pretty good, and the body shape is sweet. I always wanted an SG and this is the closest ill get for a while because I don't have enough money. great guitar.

This Guitar rocks!!!

This guitar is light and has a very good sound. If you like the Gibson SG style, but not the price, this is the guitar for you.

Beginners, Budget, Back-up

By BOB-CLAO0

from Somerset,NJ

Great for beginners, if you're on a tight budget, as a back-up, or if you're like me and want to experiment. Thin neck and decent action make it easy to play. It's also lightweight which makes it a good guitar for younger musicians. Out of the box the pic-ups and selector give you pretty good sounds. The neck is not as solid as I would like it to be, probably due to the thinness and to keep production costs down. Getting back to the experiment I was tempted to leave this guitar alone it's fine as is especially for the price, but I dropped in a set of Carvin C22 pic-ups which improved the sound. I also refinished the neck. It was a little gritty up by the twelfth fret. Now it's like glass. I changed the screws for mounting the neck to the body and went with some stainless steel ones that were a little longer. This seems to have helped maintain even tone when yanking hard on the neck. You might want to try a set of 10's. It comes with 9's. I'm also going to install a couple of coil tap switches so I can go from humbucker to single coil and back. I know all of this is not part of the review but it explains why I purchased this guitar. I gave it 5 stars. Remember it is inexpensive.

Good Guitar for its Price

By Jimmy-ZB4jV

from Sacramento

The guitar looks awesome and sounds pretty good. It sounds really good for its price. The construction and the quality of the guitar is great. The pickups are good enough for now. I will replace them soon but they're pretty decent stock. The neck is nice and smooth. Although it's not as slim and fast as my friend's Squier, it has quite a nice size. The action is okay but not that great. It's action is set just a little too high for me. Don't get me wrong, it does have good action but I'd rather have a low action guitar. This may seem weird but my 6th string buzzes. Like I said, it's not a low action guitar. Therefore, I don't know why it buzzes. That is probably the only problem I have with the guitar is the buzzing. It's a minor problem that can be fixed. I'm sure most or even all guitars come out of the box with some minor problems. Overall, it's a good guitar for it's price.
