Drive these valves into banshee-league fury without waking up the neighbors.

The compact Bugera V5 Tube Guitar Combo runs on 1 power and 1 preamp tube and is all dressed up in classic 2-tone vinyl. The 5W amplifier's bone-simple controls give the Bugera V5 the look of a carefully constructed nostalgia trip. In fact, in many ways, it is! But plug into this beautiful little 8" combo amp and you'll not only find a sound that's caked in real vintage raunch, but you'll also have modern features that take this sound to places it couldn't go—until now.

Rock music brings to mind amplifiers as big as skyscrapers, dishing out irreversible ear damage at ruthless volumes. But a studio secret among guitar greats is that little low-watt valve combos like the V5 can be maxed out for red-hot overdriven tone without blowing fuses or incurring any property damage.

The Bugera V5 is a living, breathing homage to those half-pint screamers of the past, but with 2 very important improvements. See, this amp may be small, but 5W in Valvesville is still loud as hell when it's sitting in your bedroom. That's why the V5 combo amp features a switchable power attenuator —to reduce the amplitude of the signal without changing its sound—so you can run it at 5, 1, or 0.1 watts.

Finding a headphone out jack on an all-valve guitar amp is incredibly rare because the integration requires loading the output transformer and filtering the signal for a loudspeaker simulation. (Translation: it's a real pain in the patoot!) But true to form, Bugera has gone the extra mile to make late night practicing possible. Just plug a pair of headphones into the 1/4" phones jack on the back panel, and you're ready to keep the V5's all-valve sound all to yourself.

Then again, if it's more volume you need, the Bugera V5 amp has a 1/4" Speaker Out jack to connect an additional speaker with a minimum impedance of 4 Ohms.

This dangerous dandy also features the same studio-caliber digital reverb found in bigger Bugera amplifiers. The spring reverb found in the V5 amp's post-war predecessors sounds lovely, but is delicate and expensive to repair. This modern V5 update gives you an equally mesmerizing vintage reverb sound without the wallet-draining vintage amp's lack of reliability.

With a Bugera V5 Tube Combo amp in your home or studio, your tonal woes are over. The V5 brings the true sound of an antique 5W valve amp. It's built to survive abuse, and its price tag is tons lighter than the ones you'll find tied to its elders. Adopt a Bugera V5 tube combo amp today and get ready to pack 60 years of sonic inspiration into your recording or practice sessions.

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This would be a very good first tube amp. In fact, this was my VERY first tube amp. I got this and noticed a weird rattling sound and decided to exchange it, based on the advice of a friend of mine who is an experienced guitarist. Music 123 was very helpful and exchanged it for free. The second Bugera was worse. Without playing, muting the strings, the amp made odd exorcist like noises. I concluded that the amp was either possessed or had a faulty tube or wiring job. Thus, I returned the amp. Music 123 was extremely helpful and deserves the 4 stars. I have played a 5W Bugera at my friends house and thing that it is a very good starter tube amp and is very good for the price. I now have a 13W Fender Excelsior and LOVE it. However, it is about twice the price.

Lots of fun.

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a fun little amp that does the classic EL84 tube sound. With its attenuator you can go from five watts to one watt and even a tenth of a watt. Great for keeping the apartment neighbors happy. It has lots of character coming from the 8" speaker. Get some hard rock tone or some nice cleans. It's up to you.

For the price you could buy a whizbang modeler, but why put up with ones and zeroes when you could have real tubes shaping your sound? Stick a 10 band EQ in the mix and you'll be very happy. Want a little more bite to the distortion? Grab your favorite distortion pedal and patch it in.

Not satisfied with the stock tubes? No problem. They're easy enough to replace. Want to upgrade the speaker? Buy a speaker you like and get out the soldering gun. It is possible to even fit a 10" in there by the way.

Bottom line is, this is a fun little amp. I would have loved it if it had been point-to-point wiring, for further tweaking and experimentation, but PCB saves manufacturing costs. A Master Volume would have been cool, but I guess with the attenuator it's a bit redundant. No matter, this amp is great and you won't be disappointed.

If you're thinking, "It's ONLY five watts....I guess I'll pass", you need to give a listen at full blast. It is loud.

Great Sounding Amp Great Price

By Gary Yamamoto

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This Amp is great sounding out of the box. Blows away the Fender G-DEC 30 that I have that cost me 3 times more. Although this amp sounds good with the stock tubes, I decided to try some experimenting with many different tubes and found that It sounds even better with good tubes. I like the sound best with a vintage Mullard EL84 and a RCA Black plate 12AX7. The sound is not as dark and sounds sweet playing my Fender Strat. The attenuation feature is also great. You can get that great tube saturation sound with out blasting your ears off. This is one sweet amp at any price.

Bugera V5

By Grant Gross

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Ok, one warning up front. I had to return the first V5 I received. There was a bad tube connection that led too all kinds of strange noises coming from the amp. But the seller quickly shipped a second one, and that one has had no problems.

That warning aside, this is a great amp for the money. It has a built in attenuator that goes down to 1/10th of a watt -- which is about the right setting for playing in an apartment or small house. It also had a headphone out, which is an unheard of feature for an amp of this price.

This isn't an amp that will give you great cleans. It's a "dirty" sounding amp, similar in some ways to the Marshall sound. For rock and modern blues, it's a good little amp. If you're looking for crystal cleans, you should look somewhere else.

Bugera V5 Best 5 watt under $150

By mechanaxe

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have tried numerous inexpensive low wattage amps with this tube compliment (champion 600, valve junior, royal 8, TV4, crate V5). In my opinion, this is the best sounding of them all! The power attenuator, digital reverb and solid cabinet blow the competition away. This amp "growls" when the others "bark" and it loves my distortion pedals. I drove a 4x12" cab with this amp and was amazed.

Nice Bluesy Tone

By Jimmy Felson-BMpd8

from Oakland, CA

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

To me this amp sounds like a cross between a Fender and a Silvertone. When I play a Strat through it it produces a nice warm, snappy sound. The overdrive seems tailor made for a blues player. The low end is warm and round for such a small amp. This would make a great bedroom or recording amp for blues and vintage rock players.

Incredable Little Amp

By Enomai

from Central Florida

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Whether pro or beginner, this amp belongs in your arsenal. If you need a practice amp or are a beginner who has a good ear, this is the amp for you. Great tone and nothing to enhance or deter from your ability as a player except your guitar and you. I even used it for a small gig recently, just miked it through the sound system. It worked incredably well, super vintage tone (gotta love the tubes!). You can't beat the price. There is NOTHING on the market in it's class that comes close to this little monster. Buy it now because you know that when it catches on the price will go up. Having played through this, I would buy it at twice the price without hesitation. Pure quality through and through and killer vintage looks.

Simply Amazing!

By 67mike

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This little tube amp is FANTASTIC! I wish I had this years ago. The sound is very nice. The tubes actually function like a big tube amp..nice chimey cleans, breaks up with pick attack. The attenuator is GREAT! You can get fully cranked sound at bedroom level volumes. I do find that the amp sounds best on the 1 and 5 watt settings. The 0.1 watt setting is good for bedroom practise, but it does negatively affect the tone. I run this into a 1x12 cabinet and it is Heavenly!

Bob , Blown Away..

By Robert Hager

from Winter Haven, Fl.

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was blown away, so much full sound from a closet compact amp!! All those Heavy monsters I have lugged, will stay parked. I play a Jazz style light Flat wound hand mute, and I love the smooth tone and rich reverb this amp delevers. I was able to catch a good sale, just looking for a simple amp to keep in the closet to grab without lugging in a big amp to work up a new song.. I will use this amp alone. This amp is simple, no extra stuff, and will last. Only a few low cost tubes for a re-build! No direct out, just a good MIc. will do the trick.. No more loading up the truck, just pack the car! My amp was very quiet, at mid power,up to full on, but I use humbuckers, single coils will get dirty. I don't use any pedals, but overdrive gives a good range of distorition. My first test drive lasted 2 hrs, with 3 guitars, and I loved it! Maybe not so good to play the civic center., but enough for a dinner club. save your back!! To late for me. You can't go wrong with this amp.

Sounds & looks good!

Comments about Bugera V5 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This little amp has several features other small all tube amps lack. First, there is a metal cage around the tubes, keeping accidental breakage to a minimum. It has a gain control, giving the user a means to increase the tube distortion. it also has a power switch where you can choose 5W, 1W, or .01W. You can fully drive the tubes to that desired tone without the amp blasting. Very useful for bedroom or home use. And, to top it off, there is a headphone jack. In a tube amp. Unheard of, you say? You would be right, but it is there. By the way...it also sounds great.
