Peavy Vypyr 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp

By kkatz2000

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Excellent low priced amp with wide range of tonal properties and effects. The analogue simulation of a tube amp does a great job whether you are looking for that warm tube sound or tube distortion effects. I found it easy to figure out how to use by using the computer manual and stepping through it with the amp. I am surprised how loud it is for 15 watts, but that may be subjective as all aspects of a review are. My playing experience is 45 years, currently smooth and progressive jazz.

Don't Believe all the Hype

By Old Rocker-0cpTs

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I purchased this little amp ONLY for a small practice amp to be able to take outside on the deck and be able to play along with my MP3 player. For that it works fine. The only other digital amp I have to compare it to is a Line 6 POD 2.0 and it doesn't even come close, and I thought that sounded way to hard and unnatural and sits on the shelf collecting dust. If your a beginner I'm sure it would be fine for the price and to learn how effects work. It is made out of pressed board and has absolutely no back, wide open! You can even notice the metal move when you plug/unplug your guitar. Maybe after 45+ years I've been spoiled by tube & quality SS amps but if somebody stole this it would definately not get replaced!

Peavey Vypyr 15W - Great Modeling Amp

By Michael Sutkins

from Bethlehem, Pa

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Excellent beginner and intermediate amp. One of the best amps available for $99.00. A digital amp with analog sounds. It's the best of both worlds for a low low price. Very versatile with unlimited sounds. Lightweight and compact, but packs a punch for it's size. I can only turn this thing up to volume level 2 or 3 out of 13 without upsetting the neighbors in my townhouse community. And to think that this is there smallest vypyr...wow! I would recommend headphones while playing. The only down-side to this amp is the back is left completely open leaving the back of speaker exposed. Perhaps Peavey did this to allow maximum air flow to help cool the electronics and to give the speaker some air flow as well. Or perhaps to help keep costs down. But yes, I would recommend this amp to anyone starting out. Thanks Peavey!

Great Practice Amp!!!

By Brian Duke

from Savannah, Ga

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought one of these little bad boys a couple months ago to replace the amp that came in the starter pack. It was a huge improvement. You can get just about any kind of sound out of it with the different amp models for you to choose from. Now its not show worthy since the last time I practiced with the band i could barely hear myself over the drummer. If you plan to gig with a peavy vypyr I would go with one of the larger models.

Pretty good

By BigCat31

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

For the price, you are not going to find a more versatile amp. The built in effects are amazing for this level. I tried this and the Line6 Spider. The Spider seemed much more digital sounding so I went with the Peavey. The sounds are pretty authentic. I do highly recommend looking into the 30watt 12" version though. It's a little more but in my opinion is well worth it. I would say get a Vypyr instead of a Spider.

This amp ROCKS!!!

By Craig Thompson

from Gainesville, Florida

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp for practice around the house. The first time I pluged into it, it almost blew out my windows! It has more power than some 35w amps I've played. The controls are easy to understand and use, and the sound quality is amazing for an 8inch speaker. It has more amp models than amps for twice the price. This amp is small enough to use at home, but would make a great stage amp for smaller clubs. Well worth the money.
