Good amp overall
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
I can't complain about the price, but there are a couple of issues that I wish I'd known up front. First, the channel/volume boost controller foot switch is pretty cheap light weight plastic, but you're stuck using it because nothing else will work! I've also been using a small 6" fan mounted behind the head (blowing through it) because it heats up quick and starts to smell like it's toasting something Considering that I only use it twice a week, on average, for 2 or 3 hours at a time, I really was hoping for better performance. As for the sound, it's not bad. The clean is clean, and the dirty is dirty, and for the most part everything functions correctly.

AMAZING AMP!!!
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
Well, words do not describe this amp's sound and loudness. I have played through JCM 900's and 2000's. This amp easily puts out the power of those amps. It also has a sparkling, yet warm, clean, and a nice rock/metal distortion. Its value is amazing and, if I were you, I'd spend a lil over 500 bucks to get a 100watt TUBE head. Sure it's Peavy.....whatever.....it's got the sound of a marshall and the kick of a MESA....go get it today!!!

Sounds excellent til it died.Use live wire cables, all brand new.Good deal hope you have a back-up amp.Ran every thing thru a Marshall 1960 b 4-12 cab. Go Marshall.

amazing
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
For a long time now I have been looking into buying a new head. So I started trying out alot of amp's at my local guitar store's and I found the peavey valve king and loved the tone and power it gives out. Plus what amazed me was the fact that I had the volume on one and it was punching me in the chest. So I bought the head and took it home started playing it with my schecter hellrasier and now I have a head I'm very happy with. It is also a great show head it sounds even better at high volumes. So if you want an amp that is worth your dollar GET THIS HEAD.... good luck...and keep it metal

Good amp
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
I have played this amp many times, and i own the 212 combo. It has a very good clean channel, and the distortion has bone-crushing amounts of gain, but it is still not as good as my 5150 halfstack that will faithfully get me through gigs forever. This amp is good, and I would recomend buying it ASAP. but if you want the real tone of a bone crusher, save your pennies and get a 5150 or 6505 head.

This amp is sweet, worth the cash, and it's not even that much
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
Heres the deal you could buy a mesa, a rivera, even engl.YOU DON"T NEED THAT!(unless your a tone copy cat).I'm swinging a Schecter Avenger 7,stomping on a Vox Tonelab SE, I paid $477.00 out the door at my local music shop. If thats not enough for you let me give you a heads up, look at the specks, this amp has 4 pre amp tubes, thats enough distortion for any music. A mesa for instance has 6 pre amp tubes so its way to much distotion or not enough.a common thing about mesa is the uncontrolable amount of everything on the amp. for instance lets say you like to record and you want a punchy in your face guitar sound, live you may have it sounding as heavy as possible but in the studio you have to roll back the gain turn up those mids and shave the bass off. This is were a mesa(for instance) fails! and what a time to fail! just look on ebay if you want to see all the amps that guitarists don't want anymore.Theres alot of pressure in buying music equptment, There are alot of companys that just live off a name...lets say fender(for instance)Those are the most available guitars on the market, and expensive! I've liked peavy for years. Good Tuff! gear, not always the first on anyones list but I've found I can say some good things about them and not feel like a fool later. peace, love and chicken grease.

Amazing.
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
I use this amp with a Mesa boogie compact close - back cabinet, with a Behringer V-amp pro, a Rocktron hush pedal, a Boss ps harmonizer and some more pedals with a Schecter Damien fr.The sound gets really deep, fat, sourounding and warm and the notes are clear and clean. No feedback with Rocktron hush.

amazing sound for such a great price
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
I've been looking into buying a new amp for a year or so, all the tube amps I've looked at are 900-2000 bucks, a price I cannot spend on an amp. I found the valve king probably last week, I tried it out at daddy's. ITS AMAZING. it has the 5150 sound at half the price, this amp is a must have. it has a crunchy deep distortion and a sparkly/glassy clean. if you like the sound of a Marshall tube with the distortion of a 5150, your in for a treat. this amp is well worth the money. I am picking mine up next week...so I strongly recommend this amp

No Soldanao but still good
Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:
I'm a long time Marshall Fan---This amp if you know Marshall sound has the crunch of a JCM900 and the air sound of the JCM800 Marshall--Clean channel sounds good at a higher volume because of the massive head room---although I like the over all tone of this amp---It's hard to get an in-between sound--in other words it's either too deep or not deep enough---I'm referring to the overdrive of course---I found this amp sounds great when I connect my TS909 Ibanez pedal--Like it or not Peavey the 2 best sounding amps you ever put out you stop making ---the Heritage and the 5150 bring those amps back and you got a long time fan again----
