By combining Marshall valve tone with guitar-friendly MIDI technology, the JMP-1 establishes itself as the leading edge in rack mounted preamps. 4 custom-voiced channels are provided: Clean 1, for warm full bodied chords; Clean 2, for the glassy edge of a JTM45 and a spectrum of bright tones; OD1, for smoldering power and the searing tones of modern metal; and OD2, for tight, focused tone and all the sustain you could ever want. The JMP-1 has MIDI in, out, and thru connections plus a mapping facility. Also features a programmable stereo effects loop and Speaker-Emulated outputs (in addition to standard outputs), including an incredibly realistic stereo emulation.

I have tried a few amps and rack devices, and this is staying.
I picked up the JMP-1 and coupled it with the 50/50 power amp in my rack. This beast rocks. Its heavy, defined and the tone is ace. You can chain up your effects to tweak the sound and bass boost is a great feature. This is the setup for the metal/hardcore guitarist.
This is all you'll ever need! Personally, I bought this to sound just like the death metal band, Slipknot. Mick Thompson uses this so I bought it. You can change to so many different types of sounds. I can't even find the right word for this type of object! All I can say is that it is worth the money! Just try it!
I'll never need any other preamp OR amp for my guitar . . . period!!! With the JMP1 and a multiFX unit, you'll die of old age before running out of new sounds. From clean to natural distortion to screaming metal, I've found the quintissential perfect way of getting awesome sound(s) from my guitar. Way to go Marshall!!!
