My old Rat distortion box made so much noise besides distortion that I had to cave and replace it. This OS-2 is awesome! Great clear distortion for songs like "Stone in Love" & "No Quarter", and great overdrive sounds for "Crazy Train" and "Sweet Child o' Mine". This is basically 2 boxes in one: an overdrive and a distortion. Always better to have one box than two!
The BOSS OS-2 is an incredibly versatile effects pedal. I bought it a couple of months ago, and it instantly became my number 1 choice for gigs, practice, and leisure guitar playing. I play all kinds of rock music, and this pedal matches all of them. The sharp distortion and the damn hard overdrive make this pedal truly unique. I recommend it to everyone who wants to stand up with his rock music. Rock on!
This box has a very high quality sound. I've owned many boxes and I think this one is the most versatile for the "affordable" ones. I like a lot of midrange, classic sound and its excellent for that. This gives a DS-1 sound for heavier power chords on the dist. mode but also gives you a great midrange lead in the overdrive mode. I'm picky about my lead sound its nice and crisp, no mud. I should mention the dis. overdrive mode is a knob and you can go any where in between. I just got this, I'm happy and I can finally forget about looking for a good, professional sound. I use an old Crate and a newer Peavey EFX amp if that helps.
Very nice sound this pedal makes, particularly with combined overdrive and distortion. With this, you get a nice layered distortion, great for power chords. Great pedal.
I received this pedal the other day. It is a great sounding pedal. I recommend this to anyone.
I got it mainly for the distortion since I had a small practice amp with useless distortion. Once I got a new amp with some nice gain on it, I noticed that it sounded a little muddy and it took away some tone from my clean channel, so I stopped using it.
If you're looking for a distortion/ overdrive pedal, this is it!

This pedal is great. It works for everything from punk rock to heavy medal to classic rock. I highly recommend this rather than spending big bucks for something that this can do just as well, or maybe even better.
