This is an amazing product! You have so many options with this thing! It is surprsingly easy to navigate as well. You can layer countless licks upon each other and create some cool sounds with just one guitar. The drum tracks only add to the awesomeness of the sounds you create! AMAZING!
Nice multi purpose level looper. 16 minutes is ample recording time for most any application, 11 programable presets, multi over-dub, 1/8th inch audio input, tap tempo, guide tone drums. This pedal does what is is suppose to do, reproduces inputs flawlessly without adding any noise. This thing is dead quite, and I would swear it was a true by-pass pedal, although I don't believe it is. Do not like the always on guide/drum tone, but you can simply turn the guide level knob all the way down effectively turning it off. Pedal works well with a compatable daisy chain power adapter. It takes a bit to go through the manual and work all the functions, once you are there, piece of cake. There are units out there with more bells and whistles that 95% of us would never use. Why pay for feature you don,t need? If you ar looking for a great compact looper pedal this is it.
This is really expensive but you can get alot of creativity out of it. i play Hardcore/Metal music so i like to use this to play things during a breakdown. if you use the Distortion in your halfstack or amp it sound sbad considering theres two sinals going into one input. A Distortion pedal can fix this. The drumbeats can be useful BUT only for some styles of music. in my case they are not useful and sound cheesy. I recommend watching some videos on how to use this first and reading the manual its very useful
I now have another member in my band and he's the BOSS. The loop station is easy to use and really takes rehearsing to another level. It helps you keep tempo with it's realistic sounding percussion, which you can adjust to your liking. Great for practicing on your own. The only negative is you need an A/C power connector,if not,it drains the 9volt battery rather quickly. With this device you can truly be a one - man band or add to your gexisting group and increase your creativity.
the rc-2 looper is by far the best pedal for a beginner to have. you can practice soloing over a progression for hours, and you even have drum tracks to go with it! I've done everything with this thing, from funk to rock to metal, and it always makes things interesting. you can run distortion before it and get a dirty solo over some clean chords, or run everything one way for an all-out freakfest. one of the best things about it is that you can layer your tracks on it; I've simulated ten guitars with this thing!
I bought the RC-2 after enjoying the audio looping function on the Korg Mini Kaoss Pad (1 bar of looping and no memory). I am using the RC-2 with a stereo keyboard set-up, but find that the mono recording sounds really good. 16 minutes of recording time is more than enough for me and with 11 memory locations I can use the unit for 4 or 5 songs as backing tracks for live performance. I did add the FS-6 pedal which adds greater functionality for changing loops while using the RC-2 live. (The FS-6 is also just a great general purpose pedal for use with any keyboard that accepts a foot switch pedal). I also use the RC-2 for sound checks. I am often the band leader and the live sound engineer. I record a quick loop of a verse and a chorus and then have the band play along while I check the levels in the house and adjust the monitor mix. As a keyboard and music instructor I use the RC-2 with my students as: an audio recorder to listen back to a performance, to practice timing and arranging ideas, and to slow down a riff for learning and playing along with. This BOSS pedal is top quality construction that is made to last and it IS easy to use if you will spend a few minutes with the manual.
I've played around on a boomerang and a line 6 model of looper and though these are definitely superior, they are really expensive. This pedal is a great entry to the world of looper for those just wantin something simple and easy to use. It is useful as a practice and composition tool but I use it mostly with a harmonic octave generator to lay down bass lines while I play guitar over it live.
