Overall: Pricewise you cannot go wrong with the MXL 990 condenser mike. I've used more expensive mikes than the 990 and I seem to always go back home and use my 990. Only thing I always recommend is invest in a good pop filter for it. You just don't need those annoying popping P's in your recordings. | Review By: euro560 | 2 months, 1 week ago1 people out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall: I just recieved my MXL 990 and was very amazed at the sound quality of this mic.I use this for vocals and i am very impressed. This mic is very sensitive to any sound which you want for a good vocal reproduction.I have a loud rock and roll voice and it produces an even level. If you have a soft voice this mic would make it much stronger and livelier. It is crisp and clear and will record your voice as if it were any high line microphone.I highly recommend as part of your recording gear.| Review By: martin semrok | 11 months, 3 weeks ago6 people out of 6 found this review helpful
Overall: This pair of MXL 990 mikes that I bought really astound me. They are VERY sensitive and will pick up things you may not want to hear on a recording (between takes I was eating a chicken wing, with my mouth closed, and I could hear and see the chewing noise on the decibel meter with the mic several inches away!). As I was wearing closed Sony Professional headphones, I also was surprised (shocked) to get feedback when I turned my monitor gain a bit too high. These microphones give| Review By: mork04usa | 1 year, 3 days ago3 people out of 4 found this review helpful
Overall: I've used this mic for recording acoustic guitar and for vocals, with good results. Did have a failure with it during the warranty period, as even with careful handling, the capsule dislodged from its holder.| Review By: peter c. | 1 year, 4 days ago3 people out of 3 found this review helpful
Overall: I own 4 MICs total, this is my favorite Microphone. It was packaged with care. I treat this MIC as my "Baby", ....I do Voice Over work, and utilize this 990 as my main MIC to record with. I truely feel, I received the greatest deal on this microphone. Everytime I look at and use this microphone, I can't believe the quality build and sound spectrum range of it.....Awesome.| Review By: ydhdwnh | 1 year, 7 months ago9 people out of 10 found this review helpful
Overall: I used a pair of these mics to record a percussion ensemble. They have a very nice balance of highs and lows. Bass drums come out with a nice depth even with a flat response. Snare drums cut through very well also. I believe these are well suited for most any recording application but I can say from experience that they performed well for acoustic instruments. Certainly a great choice for an entry level recording microphone.| Review By: Carlos | 1 year, 11 months ago14 people out of 14 found this review helpful
Overall: First thing I would like to say is that I bought this mic with out even trying it. I bought it because it was such a bargain. Once I tried it I was shocked on the clarity and how quiet this mic was. I bought 2 of them and I've tried them as overheads for drums and they worked better than what I thought. Second I used it to mic an accordion and it gave me so much presence and such a clear smooth sound. I highly recommend this mic to anyone who is on a low budget and wants great quality.| Review By: Ron P | 2 years, 1 week ago5 people out of 5 found this review helpful

Overall: I BOUGHT THIS MIC ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO HOOKED IT UP TO A ART TUBE PAC PREAMP AND FELL IN LOVE WITH THE RESULTS. MUSIC 123 HAS THE BEST DEAL I KNOW. AT LEAST TRY ONE YOU MIGHT BE GLAD YOU DID !!!| Review By: Delapaix | 2 years, 3 months ago5 people out of 6 found this review helpful
Overall: OK- I'm not an expert, but I have been doing recording on and off over the years with a variety of equipment. I tried miking my upright piano with this mic on the high end and a Rode NT-1 on the low end. I used a Duet interface to test record with Logic Studio. It was impressive- I liked it better than the grand piano I recorded with a studio engineer. I've heard that in the past it was a 50/50 shot with this microphone because of consistency issues in the factory. I hope that's not
