Comments about MXL 990 Large Diaphragm Stereo Condenser Mic:
Condenser mics can get quite expensive, and I was hesitant to try this one because of the low price. However, having just finished a 3 hour session using it for recording guitar and flute, I found it to be very faithful in capturing the sound as it was heard in the room. The post production took very little tweaking because of the pure signals that I was fortunate to work with as a result of using this mic. It requires phantom power, but even after getting a phantom power box you still end up getting quite a bargain. The mic comes with a nifty split stereo cable that facilitates two channel recording. I invested in the shock mount to minimize floor sounds and I'm glad I did. Even with the shock mount there were some low frequencies that came through but they were low enough to cut in the EQ. Highly recommended for home studio folks.
