Center hole should be bored out and not threaded, then you could use a standard nut for adjustment.
Nuts provided for mic clips are hard to adjust once clips are in place. I would recomment this only as a budget item.

It works, but its tough to adjust the angles of the individual microphones. I use it for overheads on my drums and it helps to cut down the amount of stands I use. Its cheap, so you can't really go wrong. Cheaper than another boom stand.
