Looks, acts, and sounds like a condenser without the added hassles.
The Heil Sound PR40 is a full-range dynamic microphone designed with the ability to reproduce frequencies as low as 28Hz, ideal for live sound, recording, and broadcast applications. The unique, copper-wound voice coil uses a mixed metallic magnet structure that creates a magnetic field 10 times stronger than most mics. Coupled with a large 1-1/2", low-mass, quilted aluminum diaphragm, this makes for tremendous low-frequency response and low distortion throughout the PR40 mic's wide frequency range. A unique dual pop screen design ensures that breath blasts never hit the diaphragm directly.

Unique and useful - detailed sound - nice for live piano
Comments about Heil Sound PR40 Large Diaphragm Multipurpose Dynamic Microphone:
This is one extremely useful and great sounding microphone on a variety of instruments, guitar and bass cabinets, and voice overs that I've tried it on. It has the bigger more detailed image you get from a condenser, but it really rejects sources off axis and away from what you close mic the way a dynamic does; unique in that way, and great for pulling a more high fidelity sound out of a busy source like a drum kit. Takes EQ well if the situation calls for it. Does a nice job with transients. Its the only dynamic I've tried that I think sounds good on a piano (condensers are better for studio - but are hard to isolate live). The bass is detailed without being boomy, and it has the high end articulation. Very well made as far as I can tell, and the end address makes it much easier to position on an instruments. Its a keeper.
