great

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

first set of speakers I ever bought. I did a lot of research, talked to a lot of people, listened to speakers at the local music store, and felt that the harbingers would be my best value. And so far I made the right choice. They sound best with acoustic/classic rock (songs with less bass). They still sound good with rap and house music/techno but your volume is limited before they start to clip because of too much bass. They still sound good though! I found that they sound best outdoors from a distance. The sound travels really good if you position them right. I've taken one down to tailgates at Pirate games and had people 5 rows away that could hear the music great. Again, I'm not a sound guru but if you ask me and everyone thats heard them, they can tell you that they sound amazing. Convenience, low price, and power all in one!

Awesome

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I purchased two of these in a combo package about a month ago. I've played out door rail jams and school dances with plenty of sound. Great lows and a high quality plastic casing. The built in equalizer is awesome for when you are mixing one style of music (Lets say dubstep) and need that extra bass. For the price they cant be beat.

Okay sound at great price.

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I bought two of these to put a keyboard, guitar and vocals through for my band. They filled a 400 seat auditorium pretty well, which impressed me for the price. THe equalizer really helps improve the upper end of the sound, but doesn't do much for the lower end. THe bass is fair for the speakers being 15", but would be good-excellent if it was only a 12" putting out that much bass. The limiter light comes on very early - it seems best to put the master volume up all the way, then adjust the inputs from there. Overall, decent speakers that are a great deal for the price.

Definitely good bang for the buck

By JaegerDJ

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I use them for house parties and small halls. As noted, they have plenty of low end without sounding muddy and the highs comes through clearly. The 5 band EQ is more sensitive than I expected and lets you tweak the sound to just what you want. The only time I think I would need to add a subwoofer would be a big hall filled with lots of people. My buddy plays in a rock band and got 2 for stage monitors. They drove them hard all night without any problems. As the manual clearly states, if you see the blue clip light go on, turn down your input level. Leave your master volume way up. As was demonstrated to me, don't be afraid to let the unit do its job of amplifying the signal. Just don't ram too much signal down the pipe and you're good. You actually can hear the difference when you're not choking it by having high input signal but low master volume. I've probably only taken them up to half the total output and it's plenty for what I need. I wouldn't hestitate getting 2 more if the need arises. I'm giving them 4 stars mainly for good performance, but one speaker had a crack on the plastic trim and one had an extra screw bouncing around inside it.

Could work for simple undemanding application

By Sound Guy

from Sumter, SC

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I purchased several of these that were not new and damaged. After disassembly, I found the tweeters were molded into the front of the case and were broken off and unrepairable. Had there been a separate horn assembly, however, they could have possibly been salvaged. Having said that, I looked at the other components inside and noted the low frequency driver appeared pretty cheaply made. The magnet was very small and the frame was stamped and very thin. The compression horn was a generic chinese driver. The heavy magnet of the tweeter attached to the molded case is an invitation for unrepairable disaster should they encounter any significant shock. I did hook them up and noted they were amply powered, but the amps clipped at a relatively low volume level. The amplifier has a graphic EQ onboard, but lacked any adjustment below 250 hz, which pretty much doomed any bass adjustments for an electronic drumset or otherwise. All things aside, if they would have been repairable, I might have had a somewhat better review. If they were to be used in home or in a studio, they would be o.k. for the money, but I don't feel they could be subjected to any serious band or road usage. You truly get what you pay for.

Just OK

By Scott Stanifer

from St Louis, MO

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

They are Not a power house by any means. If you intend to use these in a small enclosed area they will be fine. The EQ needs to be kept flat in order to not clip the amp. The blue clip light tends to stay on often and we are not a loud group. Mostly jazz and blues in medium size clubs. For a quality sound, I recommend these for events under 75 people in a non-open air environment. When I got them the grilles were bent and one of the grille screws was broken off. SO, maybe I just got a Blem or a bad pair. Hard to know.

Impressed

By Charlie Mills

from Bumpass, Virginia

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I gave these speakers four stars only because of the short time I've had them, so far they have performed great. I ran the EQ flat and hooked in my Ipod, and played various styles of music through them for a couple of hours while I worked outside (i ramped them up until I got an occasional clip light flash). The bottom end surprised me and the highs were nice and tight, the amps ran cool to the touch. The only negatives I found were, One speaker went into clip sooner than the other but I ran a tone generator and used a spl meter and they were closer in sound levels than the knobs indicated. the only other thing was when I stacked them I didn't feel that they were all that secure. I'm going to test them for a little while longer but I'm planing on getting two more and useing them for my smaller Pa gigs.

Loud and Proud

By Mark Carter

from Lugoff, SC

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I bought 2 of these speakers to provide back-up coverage to our small club mains. Unbelievable clear and loud tones both high and low. We're able to independently adjust our outbound signals with each speaker as well as through the other mains from which they are linked and the boards. Alot of product for the price.

Some times you get more than you paid for!!!!!

By Tyler Surdut

from Yarmouth,MA

Comments about Harbinger APS15 15" Powered PA Speaker:

I am using this PA to amp out my TD-12 V-DRUMS and I must say I'm very happy with it. This thing is clear and loud with plenty of bass. This pa will be handy when having yard and house parties due to being able to just plug an ipod or cd player right into it and blow away any residential multi speaker stereo with club sound. I haven't used it past 1/4 volume and it is painfully loud as a v-drum monitor.I more than recommend this PA.
