Comments about Focusrite Clarett 8PreX Thunderbolt Audio Interface:

I purchased the Clarett as a replacement for my trusty old Mackie Onyx Firewire.

First: As the literature says, the Thunderbolt connectivity produces virtually no latency. No more turning off plug-ins while tracking to spare your CPU.

Second: Speed means nothing if the quality of the sound is compromised, While completing a project started on the Mackie Onyx, I noticed immediately that the new tracks created thru the Focusrite have more transparency and less noise. The "AIR" option adds another dimension that, while not universally useful, sounds really great on drum overheads, acoustic guitar, and some vocals.

Third: The Red Plug-In Suite that's included features a really nice compressor and EQ, both of which are always appreciated. The Focusrite Control software allows you to reconfigure the interface almost instantly and really expands the unit's flexibility.
