DOD Xover
Comments about DOD SR835 2-Way or 3-Way Crossover:
Highly recommended. As an alternative/backup to my Altec 802 passive crossovers, I purchased this DOD crossover. BTW, $79 at Music123 was the best price anywhere. I thought I would be kind of "comme ci, comme ca", especially as I am a huge Altec vintage fan (the rest of the system is 60's vintage Altec gear: A7s and 809 horns). The DOD blows me away. Not only is it quiet, the adjustable crossover and hi and low frequency gains give me the ability tailor the system to the room. I, as an old passive, vintage kind of guy, thought it would be harsh sounding. The opposite is true; the system is so much more efficient, that it is actually cleaner (I am using a DC400 for the lows and a 1978 Kustom 60+60 rms for the highs). The Altec 802s may be the best passive crossover of the 60's, but I have been reborn as 90's, maybe even a 21st century audiophile, by this experience.Do keep a few ground lifts in your pocket first time out (I found I needed them to eliminate a ground loop hum) and know, unlike the old DOD stuff, this is a China import.Highly recommended.MustSail
