Converts 2 separate unbalanced 1/4" jack inputs into 2 balanced XLR outputs.

ULTRA-DI DI20

The DI20 converts 2 separate unbalanced 1/4" jack inputs into 2 balanced XLR outputs. There is a 2-channel/link mode for flexible usage as mono, 2-channel or splitter box. In link mode, channel 1 can be split up into 2 balanced XLR connectors plus 1 unbalanced 1/4" jack connector. Switchable input attenuation in 3 ranges allows input levels of up to +48 dBu, while a ground lift switch eliminates typical ground loop problems. It operates either by using a 9 V battery or by using 48 V phantom power. The whole package is enclosed in an ultra compact, road-suitable and extremely rugged housing.

Features
  • Converts 2 separate unbalanced 1/4" inputs to 2 balanced XLR outputs
  • 2-channel/link mode provides flexible usage as a mono, 2-channel, or splitter box
  • Switchable input attenuation
  • Operates on 9V battery (not included) or 48V phantom power

Not so great

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

This looked like a neat device on paper, but it added a noticable amount of noise to the channel. We tried with battery and without, no difference. Could have been a dud unit, but we learned our lesson about getting what you pay for.

Screwball Item

By

from Lugoff, SC

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

This is a great direct box for the price. Don't get me wrong, I like that. But, the first one they sent me had the back battery screw (for the battery compartment) installed, apparently, by Hercules. It easily stripped out and I could not get the compartment open. I must say that Music123 quickly replaced it but that screw almost stripped out when I opened the battery compartment. My advice to Behrenger, forget the friggin screw or use a larger one. My advice to buyers, be very, very careful when undoing the battery screw the first time. And, don't screw it back in very far.

It does the job...

By

from Inland Empire, CA

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

This DI is nice and compact and great for any musician who needs a Left and Right out to the mixing board. It has a 9 V battery for Phantom power. The strange thing is if you turn the 9V batter off on the DI, and use phantom, it has an annoying hiss, but when you switch on the 9V the his disappears. I am guessing the the inner electronics logically selects the phantom from the mixing board and not use up the juice from the battery. I just found that part of the DI counter-intuitive. If anyone has similar experience or if you think this is a defect let me know.

Great Value...

By

from New Jersey

Comments about Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter:

A solid little box and a great value. Only used it twice so far: once for live sound and once for recording--worked flawlessly both times; just make sure you try the different gain settings (there are 3). Best part? Runs on phantom power! Although it is two channel you can't run two pass-throughs at the same time (like you might want to do in a live sound situation).
