The ART Tube MP StudioV3 Mic Preamp features ART's V3 (Variable Valve Voicing) technology that provides optimized reference points to begin recording. The V3 presets were created by some of the industry's top studio and live-sound engineers, along with ART's veteran engineering department. It allows you to select among a multitude of preamp settings designed for guitars (electric and acoustic), keyboards, bass guitars, drums, vocals, and more. It also features an Output Protection Limiter (OPL) to control and maintain the output peak signal; crucial when recording to hard disk or using a sound card. For the price, you can beat this little gem. Vocals, guitar, it's GREAT for home studio recording.

I bought this unit for 2 uses. 1, as a pre amp for recording. It gave good results for a home recordist and is good value. Watch the input/output settings as excessive levels cause noise. 2, as a di for live acoustic guitar. The trick is to wind up the input until just before it breaks up. This gives a great fat sound to pizo outputs. The settings do make it noisy, but its ok in a live environment. Single users may look elsewhere for something more suitable, but for duel purpose, and for those on a budget, you cant beat this unit.

This preamp does it all. With its presets you can select your intrument and it produces a perfect setup. It also has phantom power. Phase reverse and +20db gain comes with it too. However if you have the money just spend another 80 dollars and you can get a rack mountable double A.R.T. preamp (ART TPS Tube Mic Pre)
