a good little amp

By James Williams

from Vancouver, BC, Canada

Comments about ART SLA1 Studio Power Amplifier:

I have been using this amp for a guitar rig, oddly enough. I play in a duo, both electric/electric and acoustic/acoustic. The amp fits nicely into my short depth rack space, and seems to be very well engineered and manufactured. The sound is great. This, obviously, isn't a 1000 watt monster, but it does the job for our needs. (playing anything from coffee houses to outdoor venues). We haven't noticed any distortion yet (we keep the input levels fairly low, and push the power amp for all it is worth). All in all, I'm quite pleased. For the price, it is a good unit. However, this is my first power amp. (I have previously used integrated combos). So keep my review in perspective.

Clear, Clean Power--Kinda Nuclear

By jack loganbill

from chicago

Comments about ART SLA1 Studio Power Amplifier:

Though not MY first choice. The ART SLA1 was the unit recommended by my Music123 rep. However, the other unit I had chosen arrived in less than acceptable condition and Music123 made everything right, but again strongly recommended the SLA1. The second time around I took the rep's advice and I'm very glad I did. All I expect from a power amp is crystal clean power and the SLA1 delivers that. I found several audiophile reviews of the unit that gave it high marks, even comparing it to state of the art home hi-fi units. I run the SLA1 into a switch box that switches between studio monitors and Kustom PA speakers. Either way, I could not be happier with the sound quality and volume levels. No distortion, no noise, great dynamic range. While there's not much to a power amp, the unit has a couple of cool features: heat sinks exiting the sides instead of the back (better distribution of heat), a whisper quiet fan, thermal overload protection, LEDs for thermal protect, signal and clipping, bridged mono capability (260 watts at 8 ohms!!), XLR connections--all told, nothing close to the price range matches the features of the SLA1.

Great even sound!

By Douglas F.

from Colorado

Comments about ART SLA1 Studio Power Amplifier:

I bought this amp to use in my home studio for mixing. After one night the sound of my music really improved! It has a flat even response so you hear everything the way it was meant to be heard. Later when the power amp in my guitar rig went south, I thought that I would give the ART a try, after all my cab handles 270 watts and the amp puts out a total of 260 at 4 ohms. The results, I need to buy another ART-SLA for my studio, I am not giving up the one in my guitar rig!
