Do digital right.

The ART DPS II Stereo Tube Preamp with Digital Out is a high-quality performer. It has continuously variable input impedance, LED input meters, auto mic/instrument switching, OPL (Output Protection Limiting) flexibility, and more tube warmth. Designed with twin discrete preamplifiers and a flexible V3 (Variable Valve Voicing) 12AX7A gain stage plus analog and digital outputs.

Preamp accepts +20dB peaks while maintaining over 120dB dynamic range and incredibly low distortion. The LED input meter monitors the signal level of the input amplifier.

The auto-switching input allows the DPS II rear inputs to stay patched in while you use the front panel instrument inputs.

It also adds additional tube voicings specifically tailored to vocal, guitar, bass, and acoustic instruments, making this an incredible DI box. The enhanced OPL is available to control overshoots and normalize levels before digital clipping occurs.

A versatile insert loop on each channel provides access for additional signal processing or direct access to a high-quality A/D converter. Separate gain controls on analog and digital outputs allow you to optimize the unit for simultaneous applications. Digital outputs include S/PDIF, TOSLINK, and ADAT (front panel selectable). The A/D converter is front panel adjustable from 44.1 to 96K or syncs to ADAT or external word clock (32kHz to 100kHz). You can patch into any ADAT stream and select which pair (or all) of channels the DPS II transmits.

ART DPS II Rocks...

Comments about ART DPS II Stereo Tube Preamp with Digital Out:

Okay, I just bought this unit about 2-3 weeks ago and I have to say I am very happy with it. I liked the idea of having two additional inputs and the digital out (spdif) which I run into my presonus Firestudio Project. Incredible sound I must say. I can tell you that the stock 12ax7 tubes (electro-harmonix) that come with the unit are junk and should be replaced. This is very easy to do. Just pop out 6 screws take the tube out and replace with new tube. Screw unit back together and bam...you got yourself an instant ungrade.

This thing is built like a tank. I didn't care for the plastic buttons on the front but that is minor in comparison when it comes to the sound. Ok it really adds new life to my bass and Strat. Was also very pleased with the sound I got with the vocals. I must say having this unit now really brought out the dynamics and clarity I didn't have before. My bass was always buried in the mix for some reason. I have a Sterling Bass made by Music Man and it is active. It has a 3 band eq that you can tweak the settings with. I did notice if the low end setting was set too high the bass would distort and wasnt punchy. If you back off that and tweak the mids along with the treble settings you are in for a treat. I couldn't be happier.

You will want to buy this thing now. Come on do it.....do it...dooooooo ittttttt!!!!!!

This pre really makes your bucks bang!!!

Comments about ART DPS II Stereo Tube Preamp with Digital Out:

I have a small home recording studio and have been recording my own songs for the past three years. I think I have a fairly nice arsenal of budget minded recording gear. I had been searching for a way to expand the inputs of my MBOX2 for a few months until I read reviews about this ART DPS II. All the reviews I read were fairly good and having experience with ART tube pre amps in the past, I didn't hesitate to order one of these. The proof is really in the pudding guys, if you want a high quality warm tube sound out of your DAW and don't want to break the bank doing so, then this is the right equipment for your lab. This pre can really take your studio to the next level...

Nice product . . .

Comments about ART DPS II Stereo Tube Preamp with Digital Out:

I bought this piece because it had three things I was looking for: 1. a tube mic pre-amp, 2. two channels, 3. digital out. When recording acoustic guitar, I put two mics on either side, and run the signal directly to my sound card via SPDIF. After adjusting the "valve" and impedence controls (along with gain, of course) I am able to get a full and natural sound, much better than the harsh sounding preamps on either my m-audio breakout box or my behringer mixer. My studio is fairly basic, but this unit has made it possible for me to record at a rather high quality. I would recommend it to anyone like myself who is trying to attain a warmer and more natural sound for acoustic instruments or vocals. The digital output is a very nice option. . .
