Great Buy

By Mike-TVr69

Comments about Fender FV3 Deluxe Electric Violin:

I really like this violin, but there are a few downsides. This is my first electric violin, even though I have been playing violin from when I was six, and am now a teen. The first thing is the shoulder rest. Its not like you can go out and buy a new one, this fits into the violin with two little pegs, and therefore slides out easily. I found it to be relatively comfortable, but hard to keep in. The violin is heavier than my regular violin, but I don't know if that is how all electric violins are. This is not really a problem when you are playing, but you do notice it a little. It does not really sound like a regular violin, but it does sound very good. It is a pretty nice sound even when it is not plugged in. While it is softer than a regular violin, the sound does sound pretty similar. When it is plugged in, it sound amazing. The strings are garbage, but than should be expected. If you don't have at leas one spare pair of strings at home, you should not buy a violin until you do. Every violin, even the regular ones, needs to have the strings changed. I just thought I should put that out there. I feel like I just trashed the violin, but it is really a great product. I have had it for over 2 months now, and I love it. It looks amazing, and catches a lot of attention. The bow is actually pretty good. It does feel like playing a regular violin, and I have been able to play some very difficult music on it. I actually plan on using it to preform Carmen Concert Fantasy by Sarasate. You can't go wrong with this violin.

Comments about Fender FV3 Deluxe Electric Violin:

I love this instrument, except it's cruddy shoulder rest everything is OK (the bow is cheap, and the case is very heave) The instrument itself in combination with a preamp has a beautiful sound!

The Fender FV-3

By Duhneek

from CANADA

Comments about Fender FV3 Deluxe Electric Violin:

Ok, I am hoping to make this as helpful as I can:Ok so overall it is a great violin. The tone is very nice. Its very clear and it almost has a neat and unique grove to it. I think the design looks real neat. It has a great finish and it is a very high quality polish. The violin comes with a built in chin-rest that you can take out and put in...Its very cool! The designs around the fiddle have sort of like a pearl rock around with green markings...You have to have a good eye to see it lol. The bridge is also very cool.its is dark brown and it sits on a black plastic thing that never moves so tuning is so EASY!One thing I love about it is once its in tune, no matter what temperature its in, it will hardly EVER go out of tune. Its amazing! Everything is high quality! The volume and Tone control is good too...It works well! The whole violin itself is not too heavy and is very comfy! Its a great violin in total and Fender did a great job...Why a 4 and not a 5??? Well I just find the chin-rest difficult to put on...But thats NOT a big deal for an amazing violin! And the only other SMALL problem is there is not a built in amp. But other than that, EXCELLENT...Oh ya, you can still play without an amp but it almost sounds muted but I LOVE it!!! I VERY MUCH recommend the Fender FV-3 and I hope this helped a lot!!!(p.s. The tuning pegs and screws move very easily and are very great!) Thanks a lot

Awesome violin

By Rachael

Comments about Fender FV3 Deluxe Electric Violin:

I started playing bar gigs earlier this year and wanted to upgrade from playing my 94 year-old acoustic to an electric violin. This instrument is one of the best on the current market...the price is a lot lower than expected from such a high quality instrument. It has a dark and powerful sound, even when unplugged. It sounds equal (if not better) than several more expensive brands. Now if they'd only make a 5-string model, then I'd really be in heaven.

FV-3 Deluxe

By John-jznXn

from Denmark

Comments about Fender FV3 Deluxe Electric Violin:

The FV-3 comes with a deluxe case outfit for the performing and traveling violinist. This deluxe case outfit features an upgraded hard shell, a hygrometer, space for four bows and a tube to hold high quality replacement strings. Also included with the case outfit are a chinrest and a hex-shaped horsehair bow. The FV-3 is designed for traditional and bluegrass violinists who want a more modern instrument that will expand their palate and enable them to explore different sounds. While it is electric, it differs from the many so-called "silent" electric violins available on the market. The chambered body of the Fender FV-3 allows it to resonate as a truly acoustic instrument would, offering good tone while practicing un-amplified. The FV-3 also has the latest in piezo pickup technology, offering players a wider range of amplified volumes for different venue sizes. Additionally, this lets violinists expand their tonal possibilities by allowing them to use electronic effects, such as reverb, chorus, delay or flange. The bridge, tuners fingerboard and chinrest of the FV-3 are all made from ebony. The body features a flame maple top, back and sides, and is finished with a traditional two-color sunburst. The piezo pickup has both volume and tone controls.

Comments about Fender FV3 Deluxe Electric Violin:

Fender has done it this time. I was skeptical at first of an electric violin but Fender and I have a long history and they have yet to let me down.

Good enough for who it is for.

By semaj

from Livingston, MT

Comments about Fender FV3 Deluxe Electric Violin:

I own one of these and play it about 4 times per night during gigs in bars. It is rather heavy which would be a problem if I played it all night. The tone is also somewhat boxy. I pull out all of the treble, cut the mids and add a bunch of bass in the EQ. It is passable for a bar situation. This instrument is to a nice acoustic fiddle as a Fender Rhodes is to a nice acoustic piano. The playing technique is essentially the same, but the sound is rather different. In some situations, the difference is what you want. I own some very fine old acoustic fiddles. If I take the Fender to a bar and it gets broken, I'm out a few hundred bucks. If one of my old guys gets smashed, I'll have a broken heart from now on.
