Great!!

By Corey Johnson

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

I'm a great fan of the University of Illinois Marching Illini Drumline. When I decided to buy my own marching snare I thought to myself, "What better snare to buy than the one the ID uses, it must be good." And it is. Granted I don't play it to it's limits but it works great. If your a student looking for a drum to play around on, this ones for you. If your a professional drumline tech, this is the drum for you.

Great

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

We use this this drum on our high school line. The sound is amazing, and, though they have all been dropped a great many times, they look as good as ever(silky silver finish) with the exception of a few minor scuffs on the lugs. The only quirk I have is that the older they are, the more often they need to be tuned. But that's okay as they are some of the most easily tunable drums I've ever played.

Good

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

It's a good drum. My high school bought these drums in '95, and they got pretty beat up, but still looked respectable, considering them being set down on concrete and all. They still look and sound fine. This model drum (Though not always a 14") was used by the Cavies, U of I, and UK up until around 2000/2001.I still think all Yamaha drums are of the best quality available, the MTS is way to go if you can afford the extra penny. This makes for a good hack drum in your woodshed, though!

wicked

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

Our high school drumline uses remo drums, but when our storage was burglarized we borrowed some from our other school. Man, we were impressed! We told our instructor we wanted Yamaha. He said it wouldn't be possible cuz the school would only replace what was taken. So we took matters in our own hands. The next summer we held fund raisers to buy new drums. We raised enuff to buy 5 basses, 4 quads, 1 quint & 6 snares. This was in '95. The line still uses them today.

Amazing!

By Garrett Miller

from Lorain, OH USA

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

This drum is the best marching snare I've ever heard. Being the section leader of my high school's drumline, I think it's definately a big deal to have great equipment, and this definately qualifies as great. We had a bottom head break on one of ours snares and couldn't find a replacement head, so we borrowed these snares from the host school. I was amazed. They are the greatest drums in the world, and they look great.

good drum

By eric-8rs1E

from louisiana

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

It is a good drum but would sound better with a thicker flam head at the top and a thin flam head for the bottom. The top flam head that it comes is a good head but u dont get as good of a sound as u do with a thicker head and it also busts easy.It comes with a thin clear bottom head, but sounds better with a thin flam head.Besides that,it is an overall good drum.

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

We use these drums for our high school drumline too. They are positively amazing. I'm trying to buy one of my own. I couldn't imagine getting a different one. If you know that something is good, stick with it!

Sound good, durability bad

By Johnathan-nWvvv

from Winston-Salem, NC, USA

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

The sound of the SFZ is second to none. Being a drum section leader of my high school band, I have noticed visible wear and tear from the SFZs. They could be a little more durable.

Beautiful

By Drummer-fyRqt

from Dickson, TN

Comments about Yamaha MS-9214 Sforzando Snare Drum:

This drum by itself with the right heads is dangerous enough. With a full line, it's down right dangerous. The sound that comes from these drums is amazing. It kind of seeps through the rest of the ensemble right into your ears. The articulation is great and it's really durable. It's a beautiful drum. I would recommend this drum to any school or any person looking to purchase a drum of their own.
