Comments about Pearl Championship Series Carbonply Snare Drum:
I spent the summer working at a grocery store during high school just to get this drum. I ordered a black max head, along with a black resonant head by Remo. I threw in a VicFirth double stick bag, and a pearl tube harness. When I finally got the drum I threw the heads on it. By that time I was captain of my high school drum line and I knew enough about tuning to make this Pearl a true pearl. Because of the free floating design, I was able to crank the resonant head beyond belief. The rim of the drum was lower than the actual resonant head. It was amazing. I cranked the batter head as well. It sounded amazing, but I wasn't done yet. I took the snare to my high school football field and I tuned the snare again. This time I was able to get the ring out of the drum (all due to tuning in an inside atmosphere not due to the drum). The snare sounded even more incredible. Then I proceeded to individually tune the snares so that they were all the same pitch when plucked. After all of the effort I put into tuning I had to show the drum off. I took my snare to parades, to camps, and practices. Everywhere I went I received comments on how good the snare both looked and sounded. (At a camp with at least fifteen other snare players the instructor told me that he could hear my drum and that it sounded amazing... yea it's that good). Basically this snare is god of all marching snares. The unique look and the crisp sound that is possible from this drum allows it to surpass all other models. I have seen many players with Dynasty, Yamaha, Premier, and even other Pearls. The clean look and the truly perfect sound makes this snare truly the best. Never have I heard an ill word spoken about my snare. Trust me, if you are fortunate enough to play on one of these beauties, you will not be disappointed. Truly a six out of five.
