Update makes it a 10+!
Comments about Roland VK-8 Combo Organ:
Here's an update on prior review of my VK-8. I still LOVE it more each day, and recently down-loaded (free) soft-ware update, which provides a 4th amp sound, which is AWESOME! Also, with MIDI, I use my Yamaha P250 as 2nd (lower) manual. Also, the VK-8, which 'sits' atop 250, as a 2nd piano keyboard which offers wonderful layering. What a sound!

Gets better with use...
Comments about Roland VK-8 Combo Organ:
After a bit of a wait due to its very high demand, I finally got my VK8. Kudos again to Garry R. & Music 123.com! I "feed" it through a Yamaha 12G/4 mixer to two Roland KC keyboard amps (a 300 & a 350). I've had it but a couple of weeks, and my "first play out of box" reservations seem to diminish with each subsequent play session or gig! To date, I have but three "un-happy's": 1/ IMHO, there _should_ be a *playing* instruction manual & even an audio CD + sample charts (music) to supplement the measly four demo songs supplied; 2/ If I play percussive leads at upper keyboard, bass comp will reduce the volume of these when bass comp notes are played. Might be poor design, or -- possibly -- my ineptness. But it does cause some rearranging, including my piano (Yamaha P-250) comping with left hand to not do this -- volume reduction -- with right. This IS an annoyance! 3/The absence of an LCD display relies on dim lamps in the switches. Why did Roland eliminate the LCD panel? Plusses: The keys are beautiful; glissing's a joy; truly a beautiful sound isn't that hard to get, either! Definitely worth its price! The D-beam controller surely adds a nice touch, 'though *I* haven't used it yet while performing. (Fun while just playing!)
