It works fine for me and its Vista compatible too! I have a problem with my Sonar hanging up at times and the only solution is to unplug the midi interface. So, I've purchased this interface hoping that it would have resolved my problem. So, I am still on my quest to find out why my computer hangs up while recording audio.

I bought the M-Audio UNO mainly to upgrade my synth (Alesis Micron) to the latest OS. There are some forums which made it seem this product had a problem with sysex. At first I thought this seemed to be the case, but I dug deeper and found the problem was with MIDI-OX's corrupting sysex data (stated on their own forum). So, I used the old sysex97 utility which worked fine. I like the M-Audio UNO, it's inexpensive and needs no driver installation on Windows XP. The cord is nice and long. The midi in/out are labelled "To MIDI IN and To MIDI OUT" so that might be a little confusing. (To MIDI IN goes to the MIDI IN etc.) Just plug and play as they say.

The one to buy if you only have one keyboard/synth or only need one MIDI in/out. I use it to sequence my Alesis QS6 with Sonar. As far as installing, the directions must be followed to the letter or it won't install properly. Don't lose the installtion cd, you will need it to reinstall if the unit is unplugged.I see no reason to spend more on a 1x1 interface. It hasn't failed me in the 8 months I've owned it.

I must say this device is a must for everybody that doesn't want a headache. A very easy device to install... even an 80 year old grandma can do it.Put the installation disk in and your set. My first USB midi interface and love it.

The M-Audio Uno works great. The driver installation on XP had to be done twice, but that has been my experience with most devices on XP and reflects more on Microsoft than on M-Audio. I hooked up my Yamaha 300 keyboard to my computer and it handled the input from and output to the keyboard just great! And what is really nice is that I didn't need to buy any extra cables or other accessories to hook it up!

I am not sure who these other users are who have written their reviews on this product, but I assure you they have NOT read the instruction manual to learn how to PROPERLY install and use the unit. I bought the unit to download programs onto my Line 6 Vetta II and it is AWESOME! I can not tell you have valuable and awesome it is.
