When you first come upon this guitar, it looks as though it is cheap. Priced at around 200, the guitar can't be that great, right?WRONG. This guitar rocks. Some people say it's even better than a Squier Strat, and I think it may be. Loaded with 3 pickups, including a humbucker, its sound will totally blow you away.Crazy harmonics are packed in with screaming highs. This guitar is so good because of its alarming craftsmanship. For a beginner, an intermediate player, or even a full-time studio player, this guitar is choice! It would be a good idea to but a good amp with it, perhaps Marshall.I played this guitar on a lower-level amp and it wasn't so great, but plug it into a good one, and it's potential floods!Great for anyone.

This was my first electric guitar. If you are thinking of buying a guitar, I would really advise to save up some more money and go with a more expensive one. This guitar will be fun to play around with, but it just doesn't have the power or drive that an electric should have. The neck is also not as wide as most other guitars. So if you really want to get an inexpensive guitar just to start, this is an ok guitar. But my advice is to save up some more money and go with a better one because this one just doesn't quite do it :)

Great Guitar

By Dustin-tcXRh

Comments about Yamaha PAC112J Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for someone just starting out. It has a good solid sound and holds up very well. The Humbucker has a very crisp rock feeling and the two single coil pick-ups have a clean sound with very minimal feedback.

best guitar ever!

Comments about Yamaha PAC112J Electric Guitar:

I've had a Fender and a Gibson and this is the best guitar ever! The neck is just right and it plays fast. The frets are awesome. Everyone from beginer to pro should get this guitar! The only bad thing about this guitar is that one of the frets buzzes but other than that , it's the BEST GUITAR EVER!!!!! I wish I could do more stars.

BANG FOR YOUR BUCK (this really isn't a squire toy)

By unimportant

Comments about Yamaha PAC112J Electric Guitar:

I was shopping around for a backup to replace my standard Squier Tele as I don't feel comfortable playing it out for namesake only when I happened upon this guitar. I typically play a higher end Washburn or Stratocaster but you never know when you're going to break a string and have to pull out a Squier AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGG! well anyway I plugged it in by chance and found a very versatile sounding instrument that can adapt to just about any style. The humbucker is pretty darn hot and not "muddy" or generic sounding at all! It is very quiet. The single coils remind me of a standard strat sound, not profoundly perfect but very adequate. I was amazed that combining the neck and middle gave me a convincing SRV tone like my strat, but the single coils do not have near the output and volume as the humbucker, but it really is like having two guitars for the price of one. I was very impressed how when I rolled off the volume, it cut gain and cleaned me up without losing volume till more than halfway down which saves you from tweaking amps mid-song! Very GOOD! Also the tone knob doesn't muddy it up much at all which is a pet peavey of mine. The playability is much better than your typical 200 buck axe. Very smooth neck and nice frets. If you are looking for the most you can get for 200 bucks here it is really! I can get thrash tones to Chicago blues tones to rockabilly tones with this baby and would trust this as a perfect backup that I won't actually be uneasy about using. You will be delighted no matter what your playing level! GET ONE NOW!

Not a good guitar

By Sammi-UNYN3

from Iceland

Comments about Yamaha PAC112J Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for three years and I don't think it's a good guitar. The pickups are not good, and the guitar does not stay tuned for long, but it was cheap so I guess it's a good guitar for a beginner.

Great starters guitar

By Astat

from Ohio

Comments about Yamaha PAC112J Electric Guitar:

My guitar is a Yamaha EG 112, which is basically the same as this guitar, but it came in a value package with an amp, etc. I have 5 guitars now, all of which are way more expensive, yet I still find myself playing this one the most, simply because it's the most comfortable, most reliable (I've dropped this thing countless times, thrown it, spilled stuff on it, even left it out in the rain once, and it still works), and with a little setup tweaking (raising the humbucker closer to the strings, aligning the bridge) it sounds amazing for the price.
