Cosmetically stage-aggressive attitude with a spruce top and Yamaha’s own upgraded electric system.
The CPX series has always placed emphasis on playability, stylish medium jumbo body profile and cutting edge electronics. The CPX500, one of the worlds most widely recognized acoustic-electric guitar, has been revamped and refined for a new generation of acoustic rockers. The Yamaha CPX500II Medium-Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar is available with exciting colors, upgraded pickup/preamp system, and the same exceptional playability. Case sold separately.
CPX Soundhole: Round
CPX’s conventional round soundhole focuses the midrange, while controlling bass, for a direct, powerful sound.
The more traditional CPX is great for any purpose – from acoustic use at home or in the studio to full- on stage performance. Powerful, musical acoustic tone and great playability sit perfectly with natural, controllable plugged-in sound while subtler new finishes stop short of APX’s modern looks but offer more personality than traditional acoustic guitars.
CPX Body Depth:
95 -115mm (3 3/4”- 4 1/2” )
With an exclusive Medium-jumbo body, CPX guitars boast powerful, rich bass combined with smooth, delicate highs and sweet mid-range for an open, modern voice. Non-scalloped X-type bracing ensures a powerful yet controlled tone that allows the guitar to deliver strong, rich acoustic sounds while still remaining clear and usable on-stage.
Under-Saddle Pickup System
Controls for the under bridge mounted piezo pickup are mounted on the instrument’s side for optimum access. The battery compartment is also located on the side, close to the neck, to provide easy replacement.
System 65 features an under-saddle piezo pickup developed by Yamaha. Controls include a 3-band equalizer, an adjustable mid-range frequency control, and a precision chromatic tuner for optimum sound tailoring. The system is powered by easy to obtain AA-size batteries that provide a stable power supply for improved sound quality.

Comments about Yamaha CPX500II Medium-Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
The Yamaha CPXII series is a very decent option for its price. I have owned a Yamaha acoustic guitar for almost 30 years, and even though it's not what it used to be, it's still playable! After my research was done, I finally decided to give this CPX500II a try, and I am telling you, it sounds great! A very decent guitar for beginners and intermediate players; and I guarantee it will not let you down on stage! The neck is nice, the body is light and gentle. It sounds very good when unplugged, and plugged to an amplifier sounds even better! Bass and treble response is amazing to me! When I drop by the music store, I usually try guitars; I try Gibson, Taylor and Martins. They are nice, they may sound better, but not that much. Im telling you: with my CPX500II I have no reason to envy them. And you wont either! Why pay so much more for such a small difference in sound?
The CPX500II is a non solid body guitar. I know that. I also know it doesn't have the best pick up in the world. (You should be able to invest a little more in a CPX700, if you want a solid top and a better pick up). And the action is a little bit high, (so I am planning on taking it to the shop to have it tuned up.) But its worth it. I hope I made my point. This is not the best guitar ever, BUT, if you are tight on budget, (and thats what its all about), do not despair. Buy this Yamaha. It is a very decent instrument for the price, and you wont regret it at all. Even though you might be able to pay for a more expensive guitar in the future, youll keep loving your CPXII and playing it!
