Washburn C-80S A Bargain!

By deadeye1958

from Undisclosed

Comments about Washburn C80S Madrid Classical Guitar:

I have owned numerous classical guitars and I am a real cheapskate when it comes to buying things on line. I mean if I don't get at least 3 to 4 times the value for what I paid, I feel like I screwed up. So, when I received this guitar, and UPS had put a serious ding in it, I was totally bummed out. It was already a blem with 2 other dings, but I worked on it for a while, tuning, cleaning, fret polishing, etc., and after playing several samples on it, I have to say I'm impressed. I got a great price for the guitar, and I have a guitar that sounds as good or better than many priced at two or three times the price plus in stores. The quality and craftsmanship for the price are also surprising. I am going to keep my Blem, even with the big ding, because it sounds Great! Its mids and highs are strongest with good clarity and intonation all the way up the board. It's not as powerful as my handmade Hohner HG-334, but that's another story.

Very Impressed

Comments about Washburn C80S Madrid Classical Guitar:

I was very surprised that such a reasonably priced guitar was so nice. The fit , finish was beautiful. The action was just right, and the sound was pretty impressive. It was in every way as nice or nicer than any beyond it's price. I was proud to give it to my dad who wants to take up a new hobby at the age of 66! Go dad! Washburn guitars are at time a crapshoot, but this one is well worth double the money (for say like a Cordoba C5).

Nice guitar!

Comments about Washburn C80S Madrid Classical Guitar:

I play primarily electric guitar and steel string acoustics, but wanted to pick up a classical guitar for some new sounds. Classical guitars can cost thousands of dollars, but there are some really nice sounding budget friendly Classicals out there these days. This Washburn is a steal. It has a solid spruce top. (a BIG plus at this price point) Overall, the finish quality on the guitar is excellent. Even though it doesn't have an expensive lacquer finish, the guitar resonates quite well. The fretboard & neck on the C80s, as on most Classicals is rather wide, but no more uncomfortable than say a thick Gibson Les Paul type neck. The set up was nice right out of the box with no fretboard buzz, and I've gotta say the tuning machines work well too. As far as tone, finish, features, and playability...this Washburn beats any of the similarly priced offerings that I've tried. VERY warm tone! I waited until after I received this guitar to decide if I'd shell out more $ for a good case. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase, so I've got a TKL case on the way.

A good guitar

By Luis-m28Dx

from San Diego

Comments about Washburn C80S Madrid Classical Guitar:

I would give this guitar a five star rating if it wasn't for some disappointments when I first got it. I purchased it on the internet and when I received it I thought they sent me another model due to the fact that the top was a different color. When I first played it it had a buzz at mid neck on the E string because of a miss trimmed string. The action was rather high, but that might have been just me since I was used to playing a Honer steel string acoustic. After changing the strings (My thoughts on buying a new guitar is to change the strings anyway) and sanding down the upper nut I had what I consider a very nice sounding guitar. I cannot find any flat spots to speak of and the tone is rather nice on this model. I have had very many compliments on the sound of this guitar. It seems to speak out to its audience. It carries a tune very well and it plays rather loud. The finish is rather thin and dings easy but I guess you have to give something up for good sound. After I got over my first impression I consider this guitar a very good one for its price.
