The pick-up is a screamer and great for distorted or overdriven music. Like someone else said, the clean sound is not that great, but I don't think it was designed to produce a good clean sound. There are other models in the line that will do the clean thing much better. The Speedster has one hot-rails type pickup and it is just that - hot. The neck is straight, the frets are well finished, and the neck profile is an easy to play thin C shape. The Speedster doesnt feel like a conventional guitar and that should be obvious by its design. It takes a little getting used to since there is almost zero weight to the body. With the armrest attached you can rest your arm on it and this helps hold the body in place and compensate for the lack of weight/mass. The armrest attaches with a screw that doubles as the strap button. The screw goes through the armrest and into a screw sleeve pressed into the body. This screw sleeve pulled out of my guitar. The sleeve is pressed into a hole, where the appropriate attachment would be to use a sleeve that is threaded on the outside and screwed into place. I used wood glue to reinsert the sleeve and it has held in place; however, I am very careful to not over tighten the armrest or put unnecessary stress on the armrest. I also added a small strip of leather between the armrest and the body to eliminate some very minor movement (play) in the attachment. The movement is minor, but anything like this can drive you crazy if youre used to a solid block of wood under your arm. As for the tuning, once you get it in tune it stays in tune about as good as any $350 guitar. Getting the tuning to stabilize requires a bit more work. My theory is that the plastic roller used to bend the strings around the body creates friction that prevents a tweak on the tuning keys to be fully transferred to the full length of the string. As a result, you need to tune, play, stretch, tune, and repeat a couple of times on each string. I cant help but wonder if individual metal or brass rollers for each string wouldnt eliminate or minimize the friction caused by one single plastic roller, and maybe even add to the sustain! The Speedster is a great idea and in practice is works OK. It could be made a lot better if the armrest attachment was more solid and the plastic roller was redesigned. These should be very doable upgrades for a product made in china that sells for $350. It is a great idea and an OK performer. If the quality were a bit better at the same price it would be a hands down winner for a hot, very compact travel guitar!

I have had this guitar for 2 years. It is the sweetest little axe you'll ever own!! EASY fretting, a little bit on the treble side when played, but you can play it through your amp or nearly silently in the home or travel. What a guitar!

I bought this guitar so that I could continue to play while stationed in Iraq. I was very impressed with the quality of manufacturing. It has a decent neck and action but it moves around a lot when you play it due to it's extremely light weight. The clean sound is a bit anemic (also due to the light weight and single pickup) but with heavy distortion, you will hardly notice the difference. My biggest disappointment was with the instability in tuning. After playing a set of strings for over 10 hours or so, the guitar goes out of tune very easily. Overall, this guitar is no substitute for a full size, but it does what it is meant to do (allow you to play guitar away from home) very well.

I bought the Speedster to practice on a commuter rail I take every morning to work. As a very traditional-vintage guitar buff, I at first didn't know what to make of the odd tuning peg arrangement in the body of the guitar. The tuners are very sturdy and it was very quick to tune the guitar. The pickup sounds great and is much hotter than I expected as well, when plugged into an amp. This guitar is so light, you forget it is there. The action on the neck is good, it still is a joy to play.Btw, the Speedster in black looks very slick.
