Warmth, clarity, and personality.

A solid Western red cedar top on the Taylor GS5 Grand Symphony acoustic guitar produces a uniquely warm and complete tone that's perfect for fingerstyle and vocal accompaniment. The tropical American mahogany back and sides add projection without brittleness while ivoroid body and fretboard binding provide visual pizzazz. Abalone on the rosette and fretboard microdots is truly sublime. Ebony bridge and rosewood headcap.

Bob Taylor personally designed the Grand Symphony guitar body style for a unique sound. A higher, wider waist and a rounder lower bout result in distinctive tone with deep piano-like bass, rich mids, and clear, balanced highs--all with plenty of volume.

Comments about Taylor GS5 Mahogany/Cedar Top Acoustic Guitar (2010 Model):

In my opinion, this is the perfect guitar. It's equally great for strumming or fingerstyle. Surprisingly loud, yet I love the clarity. I played the mahog/cedar GS and the rosewood/spruce GS, and actually preferred the mahog/cedar because it had more clarity and definition to my ears. This wood combination also sounded more distinctive. In my opinion, the rosewood/spruce combination didn't sound that much different from a dreadnought or the Taylor GA series. This guitar truly wowed me when I first played it, and I continue to be wowed every time I play it. Highly recommended.

unbelievable

Comments about Taylor GS5 Mahogany/Cedar Top Acoustic Guitar (2010 Model):

I went to a local guitar store with the intention of trying out a couple of the guitars that were around $500 and i went to the Taylor section and I picked up this guitar just to see how it sounded like, and I started playing it. At the first strum, I knew i had to somehow/ someday had to have it. The tone was wonderful, clean, and mellow. I like how the cedar gave it a mellow sound, like an old guitar that's opened up. The action was low and the guitar played wonderfully. I tried a couple of open chords and bar chords, to fingerstlyle and I knew this guitar was The One. I also played another Taylor, but i can't recall the exact model, but I prefer this Gs5 better. Overall this guitar is unbelievable. Time to save up money!
