Steinberger

The all-wood Steinberger.

The Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro is an electric guitar that takes its innovative shape, hardware and construction from its composite cousins. But this Standard version uses solid wood to achieve outstanding sustain, exceptional tonal response and a bright, clear sound.

The Spirit features "neck-thru" construction. The neck is solid maple and extends completely through the body. Maple wings on either side complete the Spirit GT-Pro guitar's body. Includes gig bag.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Comments about Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro Standard Electric Guitar:

The negativity you may have heard about the pickups is kind of true. They are useable, and maybe you'll even kind of like them, but this guitar really shines a lot brighter after you upgrade the pickups.

That said, everything else about this guitar is AMAZING. It's built in Korea to high standards of craftsmanship. The Steinberger "R-Trem" bridge is one of the most underrated floating tremolo bridges ever. Break a string? No problem, just flip the locking foot into place and (assuming you took the time to set it up correctly beforehand), you can finish the song you are playing while perfectly in tune because the lock essentially turns it into a hard-tail bridge.

The "zero fret" has several huge advantages. Better intonation, lower & more consistent action, open strings that sound just like fretted ones, and no chance of "sitar" twang issues or string breaks from your strings not being a perfect fit to a bone or plastic nut.

Plus it's tiny. The gig bag actually fits within airplane carry-on restrictions.

There is a reasonably affordable adapter you can find on eBay which will let you use normal single-ball strings with this guitar if you are loyal to a particular make & model of string. Personally, I like how the GHS Boomer double-ball 10s sound on this guitar, so I'm not planning on buying an adapter.

I recommend putting a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge. Or active EMG's if that's your thing. If you want to swap out the two single-coil pickups, be warned that the "ears" typically found on full-size strat pickups DO NOT fit in to this guitar body unless you do a little extra routing. They are otherwise the same size as typical strat pickups though, so you still have plenty of options. I carved mine out with a router so I could drop in exactly the pickups I wanted, and have no regrets.

Great for traveling and or small time gigging

Comments about Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro Standard Electric Guitar:

This is a great little guitar! Although to be honest it has some fairly serious negatives it is overall a ton of fun! Positives: Great to travel with! Carry it right on the plane as a carry on. Really, really, really cool guitar to play! So small it feels like your playing nude! amazing flexibility, no size restriction! Real head turner! The whammy bar is a great benefit, these guitars have needed them for a long time! Negatives: The tuners are hard to access. Just have to deal with it, its not that bad of a deal. just inconvenient. Attention to detail is somewhat lacking. No problem, just return it if it has problems!

Love the guitar!!!

By Pletch

Comments about Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro Standard Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar! Makes a super nice travel guitar, and is super cool to show off. However I hope that they redesign the tuner area; the tuners are a bit cramping and a little frustrating to use. To be fair though, it is really nice and natural feeling to tune using your right hand. All in all highly recommended!!!
