Beautiful solid wood construction and warm, rich tone at an affordable price.
The Seagull Maritime SWS Folk acoustic guitar is made with a solid mahogany body. The guitar's mahogany body produces a strong sound with an emphasis on a mellow, round midrange. The Maritime SWS Folk also features a solid spruce top, integrated set mahogany neck, chrome hardware, and an Indian rosewood bridge and fretboard. The guitar's high-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the Maritime SWS guitar and its ability to age—a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Folk High Gloss Acoustic Guitar:
I'll preface this review by saying that I've been playing for over 40 years, and in that time, I've owned and played just about every fine acoustic guitar on the market. Enough about me-now to the Seagull SWS Folk guitar.
I'm of the opinion that a solid-wood guitar is always going to sound better than a laminate. In this regard the SWS fits the bill. The woods are very nice and the spruce top is outstanding. The first thing I noticed about this guitar is the great sustain it has. This can be atributed to the the choice to top wood. It's rare to find a guitar that has such an open and ringing tone right out of the box.
If you are a finger-picker, then I believe that you'll be quite pleased with the balance and tone you'll get from the SWS Folk. If, however, you use a pick most ot the time, then you may wish to choose the SWS Mini-Jumbo or the SG series guitars from Seagull.
One should also keep in mind that the Folk has a 1.8 inch finger board and a short scale. I don't find this to be a problem, but I would encourage you to play one yourself to decide if this set up is to your liking.
Overall, I could not be more pleased with the Seagull SWS Folk guitar. Fit, finish, tone, playability, and price make this a real bargain in today's market.
