Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:
I've been an avid fan of the LP style guitars since I was 11 years old. It took me 15 years to finally afford one though. I used it exclusively for 4 straight years, but I had to change the pick-ups to get the sound I was looking for. I initially wanted the PRS SE Custom 24 as more of a back-up guitar, and for the tremolo, coil-tap pick-ups, and the 24 frets that come standard on this model. I could not have guessed that once I pulled it from it's box that I would imediately fall in love! This guitar is georgous looking, with a fast wide/thin neck and solid top notch construction. The pick-ups are absolutely amazing. Without a doubt this guitar makes me a better musician. I can get a huge variety of tones from this beast too! In the neck position with the coil-tap activated I can get great blues and thin cleans, and the coveted David Gilmour type tones. From the bridge position with the coil-tap activated I can get spanky twang classic Tele type tones, but the money is in the perfect pair of matched humbuckers (HFS bridge & Vintage Bass neck) that come stock! I play in a fairly large church, and from a musicians point of view it's like playing a steady 5 gigs a week with wide varience in crowd and music. I need to be able to provide that twangy spank sound when we do the "older" country-western type songs, and the modern singing solo type tones for more of the "rock" type songs. In my practice time at home/studio space I love playing everything from Steve Lukather to Billy Gibbons, to Steve Vai, to John Petrucci, from Vinnie Moore to Synyster Gates, and from Slash to the Foo Fighters. I do it all with this one guitar!!! If you're on the fence about this purchase let me say this...Don't be. You won't regret it! Please don't get caught up in the whole "made in Korea" thing. You're not getting a PRS "budget" guitar. You're getting a full quality, professional grade peice of musical art.
