Superior Martin craftsmanship, spectacular 12-string articulation, and cutting-edge Fishman technology, all at a steal.

This X Series D12X1AE 12-String Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar features patented high pressure laminate (HPL) mahogany back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, patented mortise and tenon neck construction, and professionally installed Fishman electronics. The result: great-sounding, great-playing guitars, that are environmentally friendly, and priced to fly out the door. This is one of Martin's best values ever. The X Series affirms Martin's commitment to providing an affordable and competitive option to players dedicated to live performance.

Martin's X Series D12X1AE acoustic-electric guitar features the D-14 fret auditorium body design, producing full, robust sound. Pairing the solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany-pattern HPL back and sides, the D12X1AE belts out rich clarity with plenty of projection. The mortise and tennon neck joint ensures optimal tone resonating from the guitar, while virtually eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.

The Martin guitar's stratabond neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.

The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, and 16" radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.

This X Series Martin guitar features proven Sonicore pick-up technology with the Fishman Sonitone system, including "easy access" volume and tone controls conveniently and strategically located just inside the sound hole.

Dressed in a satin finish and featuring chrome tuners, chrome hardware, this 12-string guitar has the look and sound of a highly collectible Martin guitar, but goes for a price that anyone can afford. Embrace the dream of owning your very own Martin guitar, at a price that is too good to pass up.

The Martin D121AE 12-string guitar arrives stage ready-just plug them in and play. All X Series guitars also include a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Martin has always made prudent use of natural resources, especially rare or endangered tonewoods in making guitars. At the same time, it's committed to building guitars of superior tone and playability that are affordable to every guitarist. The X Series more than meets both of these criteria.

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 D12X1AE 12-String Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The first thing that surprised me was the box the Martin D12X1AE arrived in had "Made in Mexico" printed in bold red ink. Quite frankly, I never knew Martin made any instrument outside of Nazareth, PA. However, after doing some research, I learned Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico was not a small town tucked in a remote valley. On the contrary, it's a resort city of about 158,000 hardworking people located right on the Gulf of California - 378 miles south of the Arizona border to be exact.

As for the D12X1AE, it's definitely on the heavier side, but plywood tends to be more dense than solid wood. Even though the plys are quite obvious, the guitar is beautiful to look at and sounds pretty darn good for having HPL back and sides. If you have the extra $1800 to spring for a D12-28, by all means have at it, but this guitar pushes out some sound. If you're not going to amplify the axe anytime soon, take out the 9-volt battery inside the body the next time you change strings. Otherwise, you won't get at that battery unless you're a skilled surgeon with the proper tools.

My D12X1A is protected by an Epiphone EDREAD hardshell case and plays easier with some Martin M200 silk and steel strings on it. This guitar is a good buy for the price and has the usual meticulous Martin manufacturing built in.
