Perfect (almost)

By Corolo

from Undisclosed

Comments about Lyons Classroom Guitar:

I purchased the 3/4 size as a practice/beater guitar. The sound quality is great and it looks good. Only 1 problem encountered, probably not an issue for most students. I have arthritis and ligiment damage in my left hand. I use a custome open G tuning with a bar to strum major chords while singing, and drone strumming with a group. I had buzzing noise on strings 5 & 6 when playing F chords. The guitar had a dip in the top of the fret board between frets 10 and 14. This was not a warp or twist, but a defect in the shape of the neck. Rather than send the guitar back (I do love the sound), I simply removed frets 11 thru 14 which I would never use anyway. Buzz problem solved.

So so

By Greg-P.ouC

Comments about Lyons Classroom Guitar:

I bought the 3/4 version for my daughter. The good: sounds ok (nothing great), stays in tune, straight neck, cheapest thing I could find anywhere. The bad: cruddy construction. Mine had tuner holes drilled in the wrong place and then filled with putty, one framing strut was broken but just glued in place anyways, and MANY other small imperfections. In summary, you get what you pay for, but it fulfills the duty of a starter guitar for a new student who may or may not wish to continue to play--nothing more. If you want a better sounding or better made instrument right out of the gate, spend at least double and get something else.

Fine Beginning or Noodling Guitar

By Dave Davis

from Benson Arizona

Comments about Lyons Classroom Guitar:

I haven't played a guitar for 20 years. Wasn't that good either. Got the urge, didn't want to spend much money. Long story short.... a super guitar for the $$$. Even though I'd read the positive reviews, I was genuinely surprised and pleased! Not quite as finished, as say a Martin, but looks really good and sounds great! Plays great and the action is fine. As to Music123... My son recommended buying here. I found great service and quick shipping.

1/4 - 4/4 size ... these are real Guitars, not toys.

By John Soares

Comments about Lyons Classroom Guitar:

As an active musician, guitar builder, and guitar instructor, I highly recommend this guitar, in all sizes, to individuals and schools wanting to teach or learn guitar . For those teens and adults wishing to play classical guitar the 4/4 is the standard size. For those wishing to play electric guitar in the future, the 3/4 has a narrow neck like the electrics, that will allow an easier transition than starting on the 2" neck that is on the 4/4 full size guitar. I had purchased the 1/2 size and found it absolutly incredible (see my other review). My other grandson was now interested but the 1/2 size was a bit heavy for the 3year old to handle. I purchased the 1/4 size and was amazed that it had the same quality, sound, tuning, and intonation on the larger model. The other 1/4 size guitars out there are TOYS ... this is a real guitar that plays in tune throughout the neck. I shaved off about 1/16" off the bridge hieght, for the action I require on my guitars.

Lyons Classroom Guitar- Great Value

By John Soares

from Yonkers, NY

Comments about Lyons Classroom Guitar:

I purchased the 1/2 size for my 4 year old grandson. Tonality- wonderful Intonation - Great - as with any nylon stringed guitar, it must be tuned several times to get the string stretched - once done the guitar kept its tuning well. Playability - had to file down the bridge about 1/8" to get the action where I like it. Quality of the intrustument - far better then any found in popular toy stores and just as good as the one ones sold on TV for flemenco starters. VALUE - The price and playability of these guitars make them a great value for starters and intermiediate players.

Lyons Nylon String Guitar

By Jim Sellon

from Mequon, WI

Comments about Lyons Classroom Guitar:

This is to be my "junker" guitar to take camping and the beach. A great guitar for the price. Sound is good and strong. Seems to be in tune so far. A few imperfections--no problem! I liked the free shipping.
