The archtop acoustic of the past, for today's modern musician.
The Godin 5th Avenue brings you back to a time when the archtop acoustic guitar reigned supreme. With the soul of a 1950s archtop, the 5th Avenue is true to the vintage spirit of yesterday with today's level of modern playability. With more projection and volume in the low and mid tones than traditional archtop acoustic guitars, the dynamically rich tone of the 5th Avenue makes this sophisticated guitar a dream to play, but not a nightmare to pay for. The Godin 5th Avenue now makes the affordable North American archtop guitar a reality.
A great deal of time and research went into crafting the 5th Avenue. Revoiced for the music of today, it would not seem unfamiliar for this guitar to be seen in the hands of artists the likes of Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Ryan Adams, or even Jack White (White Stripes). From alt-country, Delta blues, slide, jazz to rock, the 5th Avenue archtop guitar can really deliver.
Made from laminated Canadian wild cherry, the 5th Avenue guitar's body features a molded arched top and back, as well as an adjustable rosewood bridge, classic F-holes, contoured high-gloss headstock, floating pickguard and cream binding. The rustic beauty of its custom polished finish gives the 5th Avenue archtop a gorgeous satin sheen reminiscent of 19th Century French polish.

Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar:
I was looking for a new acoustic guitar and was attracted to the retro look of this guitar. I waited a good year or two to get it and boy, was it worth the wait. It exceeded my expectations in every way. The sound is much louder and fuller than I thought it would be. It's light with a slender neck that fits nicely in my hands and makes for excellent action. And best of all, it's affordable. Probably the greatest purchase I have made in a long time.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A perfect blem
Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar:
I bought the blem Cognac Burst, and could not be any happier. I've had it for two weeks and still haven't found the blem. This is a gorgeous looking and great sounding guitar. It has a great mid- and upper-range, I'm hearing tones I've never heard before. The bass is somewhat lacking, but that is to be expected with a shallow box. I've wanted an acoustic archtop for fifteen years, and the 5th Avenue was well worth the wait!

Excellent Guitar
Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar:
I recently bought this guitar and was very pleased with all aspects. It looks, plays, sounds & feels great.Action is low with no buzz. The way the neck is set is a great idea to allow action to be low.I read a review in Acoustic Guitar magazine that stated this was not a very loud guitar.I beg to differ as it is right up there in volume to my Martin D-16GT & deep bowl Ovation.Excellent guitar for the money and more.

Not yet ....!
Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar:
I'm having way to much fun with my '5th Ave' (Cognac Burst) to review it right now. It's an attractive instrument that, in the short time I've had it (less than 2 weeks), has gotten compliments wherever I've taken it. It's loud but balanced and well voiced. A great finger pickers guitars fer when yer picken needs a little spicin' I think it will age well and improve it's tone over time. I wanted my Cognac Burst to be unmarred by even control buttons so I ordered the straight acoustic version. Now I just have to figure out how to wire the dang thing. I'd been buying Ibanez archtops lately but this more than holds it's own pricewise, looks and workmanship to Ibby's mid to high models..

absolutely great guitar
Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar:
I have been looking for this guitar for years and didn't even know it! I play old stuff with my old man on the weekends for fun. He has a very old Kay archtop that he got for highschool graduation in 1952. His guitar is quite unique as I have never seen one like it on line or in magazines. I have a Guild DV4 that has amazing tone but it is a traditional dreadnaught design. I have been looking for years for something comparable to the Kay and when I saw the 5th Avenue in the online catalogue I was extremely intrigued. I read all I could about it and every reviewer basically wrote the same things...beautifully put together, excellent playability and sort of a tribute to the historic archtops of the 40s and 50s. There is not a Godin dealer for miles around where I live, so I had to just chance it. I received my 5th avenue and was blown away. This guitar is so much fun to play and it really is a very attractive instrument. I also like the slightly smaller build of the guitar. I have'nt shown dad yet, but I know he's gonna love it too!

Godin's Greatest
Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar:
The Godin 5th Avenue is tiops amoung my favorites. It is well constructed and has fabulous tonal quality and construction. The fretboard and neck is placed above the body to allow the sound board to fully reproduce the string sounds. I have had the guitar for about four weeks and it has become my favorite to practice with. I like the thin 3" body which does not seem to affect the loudness of the sound. The Canadian built guitar is of very high quality and I was able to complete tuning and setup in about 10 minutes. The components, tuning keys, woods, etc., all worked excellent. I would highy reccomend this guitar for anyone who wants a good playing acoustic guitar.

Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar
Comments about Godin 5th Avenue Archtop Acoustic Guitar:
My new Godin Fifth Avenue arch top acoustic is easy on the eyes and fingers; its beautiful to look at and has a low action and comfortable neck. I bought it because the first guitar I ever played was an arch top back in the 50s. This one has been a pleasant surprise right out of the box. Its much lighter weight than I expected, has a thinner body and is comfortable to hold. Much better sound than the old ones, good base and just enough volume for a small room. At first I didnt like the mat finish but it really is lovely and flawless. Its growing on me. Wish there was a hard shell case that fit it, I know Im going to want to take it out. For now its a good thing because its the guitar I leave out on a stand and play it every day. Thank you for the fast, free delivery, excellent service and my beautiful, new guitar.
