The legend continues with 21st-century neck refinements.
The Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Electric Guitar earns its name thanks to the traditional features you expect in a Les Paul guitar: mahogany body, set neck with rounded '50s profile, maple top, and a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic humbucker pickups. One significant, yet not-so-traditional improvement: the neck is analyzed by Gibson's Plek machine. Using computer precision Gibson Plek files the frets and cuts slots in the nut to an accuracy of a hundredth of a millimeter for optimal action and intonation without string buzzing.

Les Paul Standard
Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Electric Guitar:
Are you kidding?
The tone is predictable. The workmanship is acceptable but nothing to write home about. Standard Grover tuners are horrid for holding tune. Standard bridge is 50 years old with nothing new. Do yourself a favor, buy an Epiphone [if you need a Les Paul], gut the electronics and tuners and "frankenstein" your own with top notch parts. It will blow the Gibson out of the water...

Not the best but not all that bad
Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Electric Guitar:
I've had one of these for 9 years.
I'll start with some cons (which could be just only my guitar):
1. It's black which if I could do over I would have gotten a different color. Black really shows smudges, sweat and the like so you have to be extra vigilant if you're like me and want your guitar looking clean and polished for every show. The crud wipes off easily though so that's good.
2. The tuners slip so you have to tune after every song. The nut pinches too - I had to get it filed. One of the saddles had a burr on it which kept breaking the string - had to get that filed too.
3. The volume pots don't taper very good. There's no smooth roll off - it just kind of drops off around 3. Not a problem if you just wail away full volume all the time. My other guitars don't have this problem.
Now some pros:
1. Easy to play.
2. Tone is great. Pickups are strong.
3. Intonates easily enough (just that tuning problem above!).
4. Looks cool.
In general, once all of the annoying things are taken care of it's a great guitar. BUT there shouldn't be any annoying things for a guitar at this price point. My PRS was perfect out of the box, you know?

gibson's the best
Comments about Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Electric Guitar:
I love this guitar everything is perfect and the sound is tremendous, never have I recieved a guitar with a feel like this out of the box, I've been playing it through a gibson GA-5 amp it's a very loud guitar and is very punchy with a nice growl when I play it through my peavey classic 50 on clean it's smooth and warm , I like the weight and the ebony finish, great guitar don't know why I waited so long for a les paul ,I really believe it's perfect. good luck
