A rock and roll classic revisited.
Introduced in 1954 as an entry-level version of the Les Paul, the Les Paul Junior graduated from kids bedrooms, to garage bands, to club and arena stages through the course of three decades as it became a favorite of beginners and professional players alike. The bare-bones, slab-bodied, single-cutaway electric earned the respect of rock and rollers in particular, and became a punk favorite in the late ’70s and early ’80s, but also turned up in the hands of a surprisingly diverse range of guitar stars.
As simple as the Les Paul Junior was in design and construction, its basic cornerstone ingredients added up to create a robust and toneful instrument. The marriage of hot, raw single-coil P-90 pickup, resonant mahogany body, and sturdy glued-in Gibson neck created a guitar with surprising reserves of depth and power, at an extremely appealing price.
Now the Les Paul Jr Special Exclusive reproduces the simple pleasures of that 55-year-old classic, while updating the format with a second pickup (in the neck position, a la the Les Paul Special), and improved hardware in the form of a tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece combination.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
I love this guitar. I really did not expect this high level of quality for the price. The baked maple fretboard is hard like ebony, and love the binding on the sides. People need to stop whining about it not being rosewood or ebony. The last new ebony fretboard I saw from Gibson was to good--but this maple one is great. The workmanship is top notch. I am really a humbucker only player, but the p90s for this guitar rock. I am very happy with the sound of them. They sound great clean--much rounder and more chimey than humbuckers. For distortion I do crank the treble up a bit from my standard settings and then back off the guitar volume a bit. There is a nice sweet spot there that speaks to me. LOL. I'm sure you will find yours with this guitar as well. Fit and finish is excellent. I own other Gibsons and this stands up well to much more expensive models. I love this guitar, and you will too.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
