Gibson ES-345

Comments about Gibson ES-345 Reissue Electric Blues Guitar:

I've been playing for decades, switching from Fender to Gibson to PRS to various others. Lately, though, I've settled down to mostly Gibsons. I had the opportunity to wrap my hands around a 345 (non-stereo model) and boy am I impressed. It's hard not to love the semi-hollow concept for jazz, blues, classic rock - but the varitone adds another dimension to be sure (rather - 6 dimensions). Depending on your style, musical genre and rig, you're sure to land on a couple of the settings that really do it for you 99% of the time - but it is a pleasure to have an instument capable of so much variety. I have 2 other 335s, but the 345 is in a class by itself. Almost like the only grown-up in the bunch, it has a sophisication that just makes you play better. On top of that - it has all the spiffy appointments you could want - split parallelogram markers, gold hardware, multi-ply binding.
All dressed up and ready for the party. Because I play jazz much of time, the gigs are pretty classy. It's nice to come all decked out in some of Gibson's finest. Highly recommend if you can scrap together the funds. Well worth it (IMHO) - an ax to last a lifetime and a worthy investment to pass on to the next generation of players when the time comes.
