The original classic, with its famous finish and thick-yet-biting tone.
The two-pickup Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as an intermediate model, positioned between the low-cost Les Paul Junior and the Les Paul. It was originally available only in a single-cutaway, TV-style limed mahogany finish. A double-cutaway Special and cherry red finish option were introduced in 1959. The 1960 Les Paul Special Single Cutaway is now part of Gibson's Vintage Original Spec series.
Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1960 Les Paul Special Single Cutaway VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case and a certificate of authenticity.

Comments about Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Special Single Cutaway VOS Electric Guitar:
This guitar is absolutely amazing. It has to be one of the nicest guitars I've ever played hands down. The only potentially bad thing I can say is that the neck is fat. If you prefer a beefy neck, this is your axe. I played a medium c shaped Strat for years, so there was a period of adjustment with the LP Special. I am completely used to the thicker neck now. When I go back and play my Strat I find myself looking for more meat. Every aspect of this guitar is sweet. The growl of the P90s is to die for, the playability is effortless, and the sustain rocks. I play rock/classic/rock blues and there is nothing that this guitar cannot do. I'm using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a Keeley modified TS808 Tube Screamer, Keeley Compressor, and an MXR Carbon Copy Delay. I give two thumbs up! Just wish the price tag was lower.
