Fender

Built for the blues with one of the baddest bluesmen around.

The Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar gives you a lot of guitar for the money. Custom Shop pickups special wound to Cray's specs crank out hard-edged solos and gritty rhythm while a hardtail bridge allows bold multistring bends with solid intonation. Light polyurethane finish on the alder body ages gracefully, lets the wood "breathe," and helps get the price so low that now you don't have to suffer if you want to play the blues. C-shaped maple neck with 9-1/2"-radius rosewood fretboard and Cray's signature on the headstock. Fender includes a deluxe Fender gig bag with your Robert Cray Stratocaster.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Amazing guitar in this price range

By Big Strat Fan

from God's Country, East Tennessee

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have owned the MIM Robert Cray Strat for just a few days and I am more enamored with it every time I plug it in. The C-shaped neck is a bit larger than your average Strat neck and the frets are big...this instrument plays beautifully. The advantages of the hardtail are tuning stability and better sustain and this guitar wants for neither. I own three other Strats and they won't see the light of day for quite awhile now that I have this one.The pickups are incredible. I've run this guitar through every combination of amp settings and stompbox combinations that I have and have found nothing that this guitar can't do flawlessly. Clean the tone is clear and has tons of bell-like punch. With the gain cranked, this guitar is right up there with the upper-end Strats with absolutely no noise except the controllable feedback that you want to be there at high gain. Positions two and four on the pickup selector can replicate the Cray sound to a tee.The finish is as nice as any USA Strat I've ever seen and the vintage hardware, mint pickguard and neck tint make it look like a closet classic, not a brand new Mexi-Strat.The Mexi-Strats continue to get better and better and this one is as good as any ever produced south of the border. You're gonna love it!

Exceptional deal

By Frank Manning

from Rockland County, NY

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is my second guitar purchase from Music123 and it is outstanding. The Robert Cray Stratocaster is one fine instrument. The highlights of this guitar are the thick C shape neck with jumbo frets, custom shop pickups, and hardtail bridge. The pickups has this clarity and subtle punch that I just love. Even when you turn the vol up to 10 it is still clear and powerful - in all positions. One final note is that even though I have put down good words for this guitar - your perception of what a "good" guitar is subjective. No this is not a custom shop Strat (don't expect it to be), and yes it was built in Mexico, and if your standards of what a good guitar is measured by where it is manufactured then that's your standard, not mine.

Decent guitar.

By Tony-A5VdW

from NewJersey

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is a decent guitar. Not great, and not bad. It's made of solid alder which is a great wood for guitar bodies. A standard maple neck with rosewood fretboard.Mine had to be adjusted when arrived. The neck truss rod needed adjusting and the string height. The pickups are described as "custom shop" pickups. They weren't very responsive pickups, lifeless really. They didn't respond well to hammer-ons and pull offs. The sound would decay very quickly. I tried bringing them up closer to the strings which worked only slightly. Very boring pickups that look cheap, the magnets are thinner than standard which would contribute to their weak sound.I took the pickups out and replaced them with my own hand wound pickups (ElectroKraft). I didn't want to do this extra work but it was well worth it. I wound my new set to: 8.3 kOhms (neck), 8.5 kOhms (middle) and 8.75 kOhms bridge. When I plugged in again with the new set I was very happy. The sound "blooms" as it's supposed to, no more "decay". More sustain. This made me like the guitar a lot more.

Looks, Tone & Value!

By Matthew Krantz

from Salt Lake City, Utah

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I just bought a Robert Cray Signature Strat & I have to say it is an all around great guitar. It has the classic Fender style with 3 single coil pick-ups, 5 way selector switch, rosewood fretboard & A SOLID BRIDGE! Since the tremolo is removed & a hardtail in its place this guitar stays in tune without hassle. To top off the whole deal a price tag that won't make you sell your car to buy it,an excellent value. I love this model & highly recommend it!

Beautiful Guitar

By Rick-O5lpt

from Maine

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I got this Robert Cray Artist Series MIM Signature Stratocaster a couple of months ago and I haven't needed to tune it yet. I got the 3 Color sunburst and it is beautiful. It's made solid, and set up perfect for me. It is the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. It honors a master guitar player and I'm proud to own his model.

Definitely worth considering.

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Especially if you are considering a more expensive strat Check this one out first. I own a 2002 american series strat and this one definitely has better pickups in the middle and neck positions. The bridge pickup is also awesome. They are all custom shop specials unlike any other strat you can buy for less than $600. This guitar sounds awesome. It is a hardtail too which makes it very stable. You owe it to yourself to try this one out. I played it through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp and it was unreal. All pickups have a great clarity . I wish I had bought this one. A great value.

Excellent

By cs

from Midwest

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

It was my first time ordering from Music123 so I wasn't sure what to expect. The guitar is flawless. Light comfortable alder body with a dark rosewood neck and medium jumbo frets that's easy to play and fast. Lots of sustain and definition of notes because of the hardtail bridge. Pickups are fat sounding, but without loosing that unique strat chime or sparkling highs. Definitely has the Cray strat quack going on in positions 2 and 4. Best strat I've played in a long time. It is basically a vintage style 60s strat with a unique neck, nice medium jumbo frets and custom shop designed pickups.

crazy strat with hardtail

By Tony Maloley

from Lincoln, Nebraska, USA

Comments about Fender Artist Series Robert Cray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is a hardtail strat, that is, no tremolo. The bridge stays put, which is how I like it. I actually have not played this guitar, but I have a strat that I turned into a hardtail. I noticed the description does not say hardtail, but the picture shows that it is. I think the Stratocaster is the perfect body for a guitar, utility and comfort-wise. Mexican Strats are nice, I bought one last year.
