I've been playing 38 years. I've got the ocean turquoise '62 American vintage strat. It has the sweetest, bell like tones I have ever heard from any strat. Absolutely nails the sound you hear on SRV, Clapton, and Beck (Jeff) albums, which can't be had from any other model of strat except the some of the Custom Shop models. It's just a very clear, chimey balanced sound that I never get tired of hearing. The neck is the best strat neck I've ever played including many Custom Shop models: extremely thin, smooth and fast. A keeper for a lifetime. I've had people stop and tell me this is the best sounding strat they have ever heard. I play through a 1956 Vibrolux and a blackface '67 Vibro-Champ. Try one of these out on a tweed or blackface Fender and you will fall to your knees for you will have found the holy grail of Fender tones.

I played this guitar for about two weeks and sold it. The neck is too curved for my taste. It does sound quite beautiful, very chiming and fender-ish. The neck was not adjusted properly out of the box. For 1200$, it should have been. A nice guitar, but no better than less expensive strats and not as nice as comparable guitars in its price range, such as the JS1200 Ibanez.

The Guitar, the legend, THE strat
Comments about Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
This 1962 strat is music to anyone's ears, its vibe and tone can be echoed though a hallway, bedroom, and even the open fields of woodstock and still be a masterpiece though the amp and beyond. This Vintage guitar has been used by many famous guitarists and rock legends such as John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Fender has already been known for its perfect srats and tele's but it is a little known fact that their vintage is where its truly at. The 1962 Fender Stratocaster has three single coiled pickups with a three way switch, and not to mention a beautiful rose wood fret board. This guitar is the vintage guitar to own. If you are a smart investor with plenty of money, this guitar may just be the one for you.

I bought this guitar to replace my original 1961 strat. I feel that Fender did a fantastic job on this reissue!!!!!!! The finish and the performance is great!!!!! I have been playing for over 50 yrs. and am enjoying this guitar as I did my first strat. This purchase exceed's any or all the many purchases I have made. Thank you Fender you made an old man devoted to music a very happy.

The stand by which others are judged
Comments about Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I use an ocean turquoise '62 reissue as my daily driver strat. The level of finishwork alone make the upgrade from the MIM reissues (which are quite nice) worthwhile. The neck profile is slim without feeling like a toy and there are no issues. The pickups are well made but sound tuned to modern ears as opposed to being period correct. They respond to gain better than the old ones really did- nevermind what you think you hear on old Hendrix records. If you want a Beach Boys clean tone I recommend the custom shop pickups as used in the '65 reissue. This is as good a strat as you can find. I actually prefer it to the custom shop and signature series strats costing half again as much.

The Absolute BEST
Comments about Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
Okay, it's true that all guitars are slightly different and really do have their own unique personalities. So perhaps I was simply lucky, but my 62RI is EASILY the best guitar I've ever owned or played. (And believe me that's a lot of guitars... Gibsons and hand made boutique guitars included). So here's the bottom line: I am an average player except on this guitar I somehow become amazing. It is that smooth. It is pure butter. I sincerely hope everyone can experience a guitar that is to them what my 62RI is to me.

Best Strat I've ever played
Comments about Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I own it. More importantly, so did Hendrix, Knopfler, Clapton, SRV. The sound! It's all in there waiting for your caress, music sweet music... The neck! Best I've ever seen, and I've seen them all over 35 years. She is just everything and more than I dreamt of. If you like the vintage Strat sound and style, this guitar cannot be equaled.

'62 reissues rock, mine had some changes made
Comments about Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I bought a 62 RI because I liked the tone and playability etc. However, not long after buying it I decided to make it a custom. So I had Warmoth make a vintage radius rosewood+maple neck with huge fretwire, I put Van Zandt Vintage Plus PU's in it, and had Mike Lull do a full shielding and setup. I play it with 49-11 strings and love it and the tone. Played through a ProSonic with a (retromod'ed) TS9, a UniVibe, a Marshall Power Brake (to heat up the output tubes), and a 2xVintage 12's cab, this is it. I'm done and forever will be.

The Greatest guitar ever made?
Comments about Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I just picked up a '62 reissue three color sunburst. I was never much into the reissue retro stuff but this guitar has forever changed me. I own a '01 American standard which I will probably never play again after this purchase. It sounds 100 times better and it plays 1000 times better. 11's feel like 9's on this guitar. As someone else stated, this guitar is the "holy grail" of guitars. In my opinion, it's the only guitar that is truly worth over $1,000. Too bad the ratings stop at five stars.
