Special edition delivers a hot humbucker at the bridge and a mahogany body.

This mahogany Fender American Select Stratocaster HSS guitar features 3 incredible-sounding Fender pickups: a Diamondback humbucker and two custom-staggered Tex-Mex single-coils. With the original Strat guitar body shape and tremolo bridge, this is a Stratocaster that rocks with a traditional vibe and screams out modern sonics with the hot humbucker at the bridge. The American Select Strat has a fast, modern C-shape maple neck with rolled edges on the fretboard and 22 medium-jumbo frets. Crimson red transparent finish looks killer and highlights the mahogany wood grain.

WOW!

By Max B

from Madbury, New Hampshire

Comments about Fender American Select Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

Why spend so much money on other guitars when this is all you'll ever need? The tone is great, and it has a very sexy finish. Recommended for anyone who plays Classic Rock, Old Metal, Jazz and pretty much anything else. The stock p'ups might not get dark enough for modern metal but it can handle old-skool stuff easily. I replaced the humbucker with a WCR Darkburst and I have EVH's sound PERFECTLY. 5/5

The Pefect Strat!

By Scott Jones-xHFG-

from Muncie, IN

Comments about Fender American Select Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for 24 years. For the past 5 years I've been playing a standard Robert Cray Strat. When shopping for a new guitar this time, I had four specific criteria in mind: 1. Ideally, it would have the classic Strat sound. 2. It had to have a humbucker for a harder sound when needed. 3. It had to have a tremolo. 4. Most importantly, it had to stay in tune, even with heavy string bends and a tremolo. Thank goodness Fender makes this Strat! It is the only guitar I found that met all four criteria. The single coil pickups provide that perfect Strat sound. The humbucker provides the harder sound I was looking for. The tremolo is very smooth. Even more impressive than the sound is the LSR roller nut. It keeps the guitar in tune, always. This is the first American-made Strat that I've owned. The thing is built like a tank. The neck is the smoothest I've ever played. The transparent crimson and black headstock give it a unique look. In my opinion, this is the perfect Strat!

Terrific Guitar

By Zoltan Varga

from Eugene, OR

Comments about Fender American Select Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I was hooked on this guitar after the first test, tested it again a few days later, and bought it right away. It has an extremely agreeable tone that maintains the spankiness and clarity of a Strat, and adds some bottom end to it, depending on whether or not one engages the bridge humbucker. It needs to be noted that this guitar has the Fender S-1 switching system, which has been omitted in the description on this site! This allows - among other combinations to engage all three humbuckers. In addition, the second tone control controls bridge and middle pickups. Personally I like the tex-mex single coils very much - they are a bit hotter than usual for singles, but overall this leads to a very nice balance across the humbucker and single coils. The neck is a dream to play!! It may depend on my anatomy, but I think the curvature of the fretboard is ideal, and the neck sits well in my hands. The guitar came very well set-up, no buzz etc, however the intonation on the A-string was a tad off. It didn't matter, because I changed to 10 gauge strings and re-intonated the guitar - which was easy and done in less than 15 minutes. I was surprised that the mahogony didn't make the sound of the guitar too dark (but certainly a bit mellower than the average alder strat). Iin general this is a very cool sounding combination. It's great for blues and rock, if you turn the treble down a bit even for jazz - I don't think you can get modern metal tones out of it, but it's perfect for classic rock and classic metal.

Great Guitar

By DJH

from California

Comments about Fender American Select Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

This is one of the best Fender guitars that I have ever played. I was never a big fan of Stratocasters(with the exception of the Eric Clapton/Johnson models), until I played the Mahogany Strat. The feel and set-up is fantastic. I tried it out on a Saturday, and the following Wednsday, I was at the store purchasing it. I have had it a few weeks now, and my impression of it, just gets better every time I play it. It has a great tone for anything from Blues to Hard Roc, but, not the greatest for Metal. However, you could change the pickups if they are not to your liking.
