An iconic guitar with vintage appointments and Alnico P90 pickups.

The Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary '1961' SG Special Outfit faithfully turns back the clock and gives you an affordable iconic instrument that sounds and plays like you've stepped back in time.

Like the original, The Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary '1961' SG Special Outfit features a mahogany body and mahogany neck with a SlimTaper 1960s 'D' profile. And like vintage SGs, the Epiphone '1961' SG Special Outfit has a hand-set 24.75" scale neck with a 12-inch radius, a rosewood fingerboard, a 1.68" nut width for tuning stability during bends, Wilkinson vintage 14:1 ivory button machine heads, and a classic '60s-era Epiphone logo on the headstock.

No detail of the Epiphone '1961' SG Special Outfit has been missed. The Alnico P-90R Soapbar neck pickup and the Alnico P-90T Soapbar bridge pickup are perfect for players who want elements of both single and double coil sounds in one pickup.

The mix of mahogany and Alnico P90s gives the Epiphone '1961' SG Special Outfit a unique sound that is both modern and classic. The vintage style black controls with metal inserts include neck volume and tone and bridge volume and tone, allowing for an infinite variety of tone combinations.

The all-metal three-way toggle switch is designed by Epiphone, and the wrap-around 'Lightning Bar' combination stopbar adjustable bridge provides tuning and intonation stability.

Includes special 50th Anniversary padded gig bag.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 SG Special Outfit Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for a number of years, but am by no means Pete Townshend. However, I do own several electric guitars - Epi Les Paul custom, Gibson Les Paul standard (double cut), 70's Fender Strat and a semi-hollow body. This guitar is very unique vs the others. First, the weight is light as a feather. The neck is easy to play and effortless upper fret access. Though, most important to me is the tone. The P90's are very distictive and have an awesome solid gritty vintage sound. Clean tones are great as well and the guitar has lots of sustain, which I can't figure out from such a light, thin body guitar. Only thing that bothers me a little is the balance, which tilts towards the neck. A small price to pay for all the other Pro's on this one.

If you want a great all around axe at a low price and the ability to sound just like the Who "live at Leeds" record, it's a must have.

Love the SG 50th Anniversary

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 SG Special Outfit Electric Guitar:

Just came UPS yesterday--I bought the cherry one, because everyone should have one. I did want to see the wood underneath the finish, and I am not disappointed. It looks like ONE piece of mahogany. I can't believe it. I love the 61 slender neck. I had a Gibson SG special last year, with that neck like a baseball bat--was not thrilled. I haven't done much with the p90's, but the Epiphones aren't bad usually. Nice and growly--the hum does get on my nerves--but the noise supressor can get rid of it. I'm not a big p90 fan, though. I usually end up putting mini humbuckers in a guitar like this, and that will make it right for me. I put some of those GFS minis in a 56 goldtop and it became my favorite gigging guitar, no joke. I've got Gibsons with 57s and burstbuckers, but there is just something about that guitar sound that is tight and cool when gained up. The binding is nice to have and mine is well done. The work is very nice--and the action ended up very nice after a bit of tweaking. It was very high when I took it out of the box, but not to worry, it's right down there now. I'm thinking about buying another one, the yellow looks cool, or a black one. . . I will enjoy this one for now. I like this better than the other Epiphone SGs and better than the Gibson SG special. They even give a decent little gig bag with the thing! Great guitar--great price. Get it now!
