Clean looks, reasonable price.

The original idea for the Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar was to create a somewhat lower-priced Paul by dispensing with some cosmetics. The result was an especially clean, handsome guitar with all the Les Paul essentials. Newly designed in 2004, the Studio now has a thicker body that matches its namesake, hot open-coil Alnico Classic humbuckers, a set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and mahogany body with carved top. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and LockTone stopbar tailpiece add more sustain and make string changing easier. Limited lifetime warranty.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Well, when i first got this guitar, i loved it. It really did sound as good as some of the more expensive guitars you can find. But after a few months, it got really frustrating. I bought this guitar to have a cheaper one to take to people's houses to jam so my more expensive ones didn't get damaged, but now i can't even do that. For some reason, there is literally no tuning on the guitar. If i tune it so that the fret reference points match up exactly, then an open power chord sounds out of tune but the ones on the fretboard sound fine. I have to tune it so that the fret reference points don't match up. Chords sound like crap and pretty much the only thing you can play is simple power chords up high on the fretboard. It's virtually unplayable.

I bought this as my first electric almost 3 years ago and it's still my main guitar. I have played it in an alternative rock band, a blues band, and in my high school's jazz ensemble, and it plays just fine. I would however recommend that you save up and move up towards the Les Paul Standard. My friend owns a Standard and I think that it has a much fuller tone than the Studio. I guess it's time to move up to a higher model or maybe even a Gibson.

Not bad for the money

By Kelly Nagle

from Mechanicsburg, PA

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

Guitar plays fine, but seems a little cheap. For the money, it's OK. I say spend just a couple hundred more and get the STANARD PLUS. Big difference, for not much more. I wanted something to leave at practice. Got it.

Great Looks + Great Sound = Awesome Guitar!

By Richard Tosch

from Bradenton, Fl

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

The neck is wide enough to comfortably play notes anywhere and with the cut-away it allows for easy access to higher frets. It sounds great whether using it clean or distorted. Clean gives a great feel if you're going for an acoustic sound, while it cannot imitate acoustic it still sounds good. Also the distortion is great for any genre whether its soft rock to heavy metal especially when you fine-tune your pedals and/or amp to compliment the guitar it will sound amazing, also by messing with the tone knobs to give off deeper sounds and palm-muting you get a great chunk sound for heavier music. Changing strings and making other adjustments are simple with the tune-o-matic bridge and if internal repairs are necessary the plates on the back can easily be unscrewed. Really the only problem I've had in roughly the past six months needing to tighten the nut for the out-put jack and since it was easy to access the inside through the back-plates fixing it was quick and easy. So over-all this is a great guitar for any level of playing and I highly recommend it especially if you have the funds or looking to save some but still get great sound!

I like better than the Gibson version

By JimB

from St. Louis, Mo

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I can't see much difference between this and the Gibson version of the same. I've got two of them - one wine red and one natural. The price is right and with the $$ you save you can afford some of the other things needed such as an amp upgrade or additional effect pedals. I use these in church and they can go from very clean with chorus/flange to distorted. Additionally, they stay in tune better than any electric I've evey had (and I've played PRS, Gibson, Febder & Ibanez). Try these - you will not be disappointed.

Great guitar for the money, Good customer service...

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

This studio model is very clean. The tone is great and the sustain is too. The neck was bolted on. It felt strange and had a hard time staying in tune. Music123 were pretty good about it though and paid for the shipping to ruturn the damaged model.

THE PERFECT GUITAR FOR ANYONE

By Justin-86bPt

from Montreal quebec

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

The Epiphone Les Paul studio is an amazing, well-constructed instrument, that deserves its recognition. The tone and feel is great, its like putting on the glass slipper. When Jacked in or even unplugged this guitar shouts out quality, and of course power. The dual open coil humbuckers really give it an extra je ne sais quoi. This guitar can really take a beating, but it would be best to take care of it. The added weight of the Les Paul can be a blessing and a curse. it gives it a great sound, but then is harder to maneuver. Also like most instruments this guitar attracts a lot of visible dust and finger-prints. But on a Richter scale I give it a 9.9 out of 10, and I would recommend this guitar to beginners, and even Pros, for any style of guitar that you play.

Great Value for an intermediate guitar

By ChildOfBodom

from Salt Lake city

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

For a second guitar, this guitar is great. coming off of a very low end Ibanez, it felt really good to play this guitar. Any intermediate or beginner should be set with this guitar. Stock pickups are pretty good, but a DiMarzio evolution in the bridge and a Gibson in the neck made this guitar scream. I had some problems with the input jack, and then the volume control, but those were easily fixed with about $20 worth of repairs. This is a great rhythm guitar, but if you want to shred, I would suggest something with a thinner neck. That is the one downside to this guitar- the neck is huge. All in all its a very beautiful guitar that I would recommend to anyone.

booyah!

By WiKiD-.DMb6

from Toronto

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

If you're looking for that meaty crunch of a power chord or the clean sound of an acoustic and anything in between, this one has it. It has tone that is very clean, and it produces some of the clearest, resonating sounding chords you'll ever hear. Try one out for yourself, and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I immediately fell in love with the tone, the playability, and the looks. As others mention, the input jack can unscrew easily, but I just removed the washer and tightened the nut with pliers and I haven't had a problem since.

Amazing guitar

By Justin-ZCdKH

from brossard quebec, canada

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I just bought my Epiphone Les Paul studio, It's an amazing and beautiful guitar, that sends out an incredible sound. When strumming you get a full natural sound, like those of the Les Paul family. When playing natural harmonics, the sound just rings out and lets you know "I'm an amazing guitar". Some things of the Les Paul studio that don't jump out when you see it is the price. I think its a little steep, but when you first pick it up and play it you say, this si the guitar for me. Another thing that I personally don't like is the weight of this guitar, but after a few jam sessions you get used to the feeling. All in All it is a great guitar, and deserves to be played.

This Guitar is AMAZING!!!

By Kid from USA

from Wisconsin

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for about 1 1/2 years now and got this guitar a few months ago...it is AMAZING. I absolutely love the Fireburst color. It sounds truly amazing on a Crate amp or my friends classic tube amp. I have a Digitech Bad Monkey tube overdrive with this and the overdrive is amazing. I have the older version with all the chrome hardware but what happened to chrome pick ups they're not on this one? Oh well, its a great guitar for beginners (if your willing to spend the money) or for anyone needing a good guitar!
