Several people that I know have them, including my son and two guys in my band. They get used a lot recording in the studio. They have such a variety of sound, and the best part is, they feel so "natural" in your hands while playing. I have several guitars including a 335, Rhoads, Warlock, vintage hollowbody, and a few more, but I end up grabbing the "Special" a lot.

This Guitar is a pretty good one. But it is very uncomfortable. The Worst Thing about it is the pickups, they don't do well with high volume. They really screech n stuff. This guitar is really only good for practice. I think that if your looking for a good guitar at this price, check out the Ibanez GAX30 or 70.

Great for any skill level
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
This is a fantastic starter guitar! And I admit, it's the one that I pick up most of the time if I just want to knock a few ideas around. For a minimal investment you can have a guitar that will be with you for a long time. This is a stripped down model with very little that can go wrong....and it sounds great no matter what style of music you play.

You may not find a better deal!
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
The best thing about this guitar is the price, it's playability is great, it came well set up (epiphone guitars usually come very good) the sound is nice, the pickups are hot, and it's really heavy! it does weight about 13 lbs, the pickup selector seems weak but works well... It stays in tune good enough for me. and it looks good... Overall: very nice

Great quality for the price.
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
First, let me say that I'm a Gibson owner (LP, SG, and Chet SST) and saw one of these in a pawn shop for $50.00. I decided to get it for something just to toy around with and was shockingly surprised. Playability was good, sustain was good, and it seems pretty well made. I'm not going to go as far and say "It's just as good as my Gibson," but it's not exactly on the opposite end of the spectrum. I would most certainly suggest this to anyone who's learning how to play or someone who enjoys playing and doesn't want to drop a lot of money into a guitar. I'll bet with a change in pick-ups this would be a close runner to a lower end LP.

Good guitar, amazing price
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
My first guitar, I like it but it has its limits. It doesnt exactly sound good but if you change the pickups you might get a better sound. I would recommend getting it as your first guitar and if your a beginner. Dont think it sucks because i said its a beginner guitar. It packs the punch you need to get allot of tones. I used it live once on stage and it held together.. people dont usually take it on stage but i did with a mesa boogie 200w amp and WOW. So give it a try.

Good Start
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
My guitarist bought this guitar not too long ago and he loves it. I've played on it and I'm not the biggest fan of it but, I have seen worse. The guitar is kinda heavy and the stock pickups produce a lot of noise (I would highly recommend upgrading the pickups ASAP). But it plays fairly easy and, even though I despise bolt-on necks, the mahogany neck gives it that warm Gibson/Epiphone feel. Overall, if you're looking for a cheap Les Paul and either have some pickups sitting around or plan on buying some in the near future this is a good guitar.

Great Guitar. Great Sound. Great Price!!
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
When I first got this guitar, I was amazed at how it felt and sounded for an entry level guitar. Even though it has a bolt on neck, it still has a lot of sustain and tone holding true to that famous Les Paul sound. The humbucker pickups put out great sound and do not make a lot of noise. And the pickup selector switch is positioned between the volume and tone knobs so you don't hit it if you strum the strings. That is always a nuisance to me with the Strat style guitars. After playing it for a while, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to buy another Les Paul with a set neck next. So, if you are a beginning musician or just need something to knock around with, I highly recommend buying the Epiphone Les Paul Special II. For all of the features and colors plus, the way it looks and sounds, you cannot buy a better guitar in this price range.

Great Guitar
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
I bought this about 2 yers ago, and it hasnt failed me to date, the price is just amazing! at fist i was afraid that the lightness of the guitar would affect the sound, but it doesnt, that goes to say its still an epihpone, but still a great guitar, the pick ups though simple, still give u a great clean sound and the guitar can stay in tune for weeks. Its extremley durrable ive drop it a few times, and it still looks new. This guitar can be used for just about any style. In my opinion , the guitar is a bit to simple for more expireinced players, but its perfect for begginers and intermidate players

Great guitar, not so great sound
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
The epiphone special II is a great begginer guitar. The pickups, neck, bridge, are all great. The only things not good are the strings and the tuning machines that come with it. The strings are very stiff and the tuning machines become very loose and after a couple minutes, the guitar goes out of tune badly. I would reccomend replacing the strings and the machines.

Epiphone LP special II
Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar:
My friend just started to learn guitar and he got this girl for his birthday present. I was playing his guitar on fender 212R and it sounds ok. I would recommend this guitar for those who just starts to play guitar and don't wanna pay lots of money on her. This girl delivers a nice tone for this price but somehow, she's never stayed in tune longer than 2-3days. The clean tone is fine but when you play with high gain, you'll hear a lot of treble from her; you might need to turn the bass up a little bit when you play with high gain.
