I got this guitar about 2 months ago. I didn't have enough money to buy it, but my grandpa said he would buy it if I paid him back. This guitar is well worth it. It is much cheaper than a Gibson, but doesn't sound cheaper. It even comes with an extra pickup. The only problem I have had is that you can't use the pickups in any combination, but it can be rewired. Breathtaking sound and looks.

My case is a little specail, because my Black Beauty was faulty. I got a Closeout guitar that turned out to be a B-Stock guitar when just after the checkout. But I got it anyways, because I had read so many good reviews. When I opened it I found out it didn't have the "2nd" stamp on it (weird). But it had several defects: the neck was slightly bent, the fret metal bars had cutting edges and the last ones (I mean the ones by the guitar body) had been polished to compensate their overheight due to bad glueing, so they had a flat shape instead of being cylindrical. When I compared the sound to my LP Standard, I noticed the Black Beauty kicks better, louder, warmer. I wish I had a better amplifier to fully appreciate its sound. So I had to return it. I try to comfort myself thinking my ebony Standard looks better than the black beauty. I actually don't understand why they use golden hardware. It looks tacky and cheap. Silver hardware is much more elegant, just ask any woman! I'd love to see a silver hardware Black Beauty.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

First of all, let me confess that I have been a life-long fan of Gibson Les Paul in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. I started playing guitar in my teens. I had a Made in Japan Gibson Les Paul 'knock-off' back in the early '80s which I eventually sold for financial reasons. I stopped playing as I went through college, career and family. Wanting to re-ignite my passion, I purchased 3 guitars (2 Strat-style and 1 acoustic) in the early 2000s but my interest proved to be short-lived. Last January 2013, on my 51st birthday, I decided to buy an Epiphone Les Paul as a gift to myself. I went for this one - the Black Beauty 3. I remember screaming in excitement when I saw this for the first time. I realized my fingers were very much at ease with a Les Paul fingerboard. My fingers somehow remembered the riffs that I played 3 decades ago on this guitar. The neck is fast and smooth. The sustain on this 3-pick up guitar is insane! I am not changing anything on this guitar. Even if the shimmer on the gold hardware wears off. Epiphone is a great way to own 'real' Les Paul guitars without spending a fortune. Although, I can afford a Gibson, why should I? I am perfectly happy with my Epiphones. I actually bought another Epiphone Les Paul in less than 2 weeks. I think my 'craving' to own a Gibson Les Paul in Heritage Cherry Sunburst has just been satisfied. For now.

    powerfull, versatile les paul

    By johnny fn

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

I tried this guitar from a friend and let me tell you that it trully rocks! the pickups are great, the finish and quality are superb and it's definitelly worth the price. the bridge humbucker is really something: powerfull, crunchy and warm.; the middle pickup is good and adds a nice tone, and the neck pickup is awsome as well. This guitar is great from ac/dc to metallica and nirvana. the pickups are alnico classic pickups wich are very good. But hte weight is the only downfall to this baby. Make sure you got a good strap, cause it's very heavy and it needs to be tightly secured. if you have the chance, and if you like les pauls, byu it! I assure you that you wont be dissapointed.

    What a nice guitar!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar about 6 months ago, sight unseen and not played. At first I was impressed with the workmanship, but after playing it for 6 months I'm convinced it's of equal quality to the Gibson version. It has a really a nice tone. I've played other electric guitars and none of them sound like this one. This axe is an exceptional instrument for the money.

    Awesome guitar

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

I had not owned an electric guitar for 24 years and took a gamble that this was my axe. I am supremely impressed with this guitar. The possibilities with this axe are limitless. I am starting to write songs - outstanding clarity of bar chords beyong the 12th fret (for me it's good up to 20)......relatively small hands- 5 fret reaches are being practiced as we speak. This guitar is every bit as good as its Gibson counterpart- so what if it's made in Korea. Thanks Gibson/Epiphone

Very nice guitar with some quality issues

    By Bill Smith

    from Wisconsin

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

A really beautiful guitar, plays very nice, a bit on the heavy side. Pickup selector switch is very noisy. Tail end strap pin loosened up, but was able to tighten it. Strap pin on neck end totally came out, stripped the hole, but I was able to prevent it from crashing to the ground. Input jack kept coming loose. The switch is getting replaced as I write this. The strap pin problem I fixed myself with some fabricated nylon inserts. A drop of loctite fixed the input jack. The problems I have will not make me get rid of it, eventually everything will get worked out and I'm sure it will be an excellent instrument, but for the money, these problems should not exist.

    Great!!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar. I never bought one because of the price even though you cant beat it. I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio and I love it. This guitar has a wonderful sound and amazing sustain. Almost as good as my Les Paul. I'm really torn whether to get this one or a Epiphone custom.

    Great Guitar

    By Daniel Tilghman

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar:

This is a great looking, great sounding guitar. I have owned several guitars in the past and this one is by far my favorite. It sounds wonderful and fingers easily. It is heavy, but I have adjusted to that. It is well worth the money. It was ready to play right out of the box.
